文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了人们与食物建立一种更健康的关系对饮食功能失调的恢复至关重要。

1 . Even though food itself is not the problem, developing a healthier relationship with it is essential to eating disorder recovery. Most people with eating disorders struggle with issues of control when it comes to food—often shaking between rigidity(严格) and chaos.     1

Let go of rigid eating rules.     2     Therefore, it's important to replace them with healthier ones. For example, if you have a rule forbidding all desserts, change it into a less rigid guideline such as "I won't eat dessert every day". You won't gain weight by enjoying an occasional ice cream or cookie.

Don't diet. The more you restrict food, the more likely it is that you'll become preoccupied (专注的) with it, and even addicted to it. So instead of focusing on what you "shouldn't" eat, focus on nutritious foods that will energize you and make your body strong.     3     Afterwards, you can eat when you're truly hungry, then stop when you're full.

4     You may be used to skipping meals or fasting(节食) for long stretches. But when you starve yourself, food becomes all you think about. To avoid this preoccupation, make sure to eat every three hours. Plan ahead for meals and snacks, and don't skip!

Learn to listen to your body. If you have an eating disorder, you've learned to ignore your body's hunger and fullness signals.     5     The goal is to get back in touch with these internal cues(提示).

A.Don't ignore your health.
B.The goal is to find a balance.
C.The best way is to lose weight.
D.Stick to a regular eating schedule.
E.You may not even recognize them anymore.
F.You should think of food as fuel for your body first.
G.Strict rules about food and eating fuel eating disorders.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。短文介绍了四种帮助身边有心理疾病的人的方式。

2 . Knowledge is power, and the more you learn about mental health, the better the position you may be in to help those facing mental health battles. Consider doing the following things to support those closest to you.

Attend a training course

1    . In fact, anyone can benefit from depression awareness training that focuses on supporting those at risk. You might be a teacher that manages youth or a sports coach wanting to pick up on depression risk signs in your players. You may even be a worried parent who wants to make sure your children can tell you anything. Depression awareness and prevention courses teach you both theoretical and practical skills to recognize warning signs and behaviors.     2    .

Listen

If someone approaches you in their time of need, it’s not always easy to know what you’re supposed to do, and it may be more beneficial for you to just listen.     3    . They may just need to get what they are feeling off their chest and to feel valid at that moment. Try your best not to interrupt, but ask questions if you require clarification. The more listening you do, the better your position in deciding what to do next.

    4

While being a listening ear is sometimes all someone needs to feel better, you can also become an ongoing source of support. Check in with the person experiencing a mental health problem like depression so that they know you are always there for them. Make contact with them regularly to see how they are feeling. Just knowing someone cares can make a world of difference.

Call emergency services

Your support, guidance, and listening ear can be of great value to anyone going through a tough time.     5    . If someone you know is experiencing self-abuse thoughts or tendencies, don’t delay in seeking emergency help. The faster you act, the safer your friend or family member may be.

A.Check in with them
B.Suggest support services
C.However, it’s essential to know your limits
D.Such a course may just help you to prevent someone’s depression
E.They may not need you to offer solutions or even give them a hug
F.Sometimes, the best thing you can do is encourage them to seek professional help
G.You don’t have to be in a professional health role to attend depression prevention training

3 . Accents in English

Accents are fascinating and usually come with kinds of information.     1    . So many people, especially actors, are interested in learning accents.

Thanks to the development of technology, various handy accesses are available for people to share and pick up accents. English actor and accent coach Sarah Valentine is an expert in teaching the tones which can change the English language.     2    .

Valentine has been working in TV since the 1990s. She appears to have found success coaching other actors to speak in a variety of dialects.     3    , TikTok is a medium to educate the masses. Valentine’s TikTok takes simple phrases, such as “I’m hungry” or “the milk smells funny”. Valentine then repeats these simple words in accents including German, Dutch, and New York. She also highlights the rich variety of dialects within the UK, including Yorkshire, Scouse, Cockney, Geordie, Welsh, and Northern Irish.

4    ,” James Lantolf, a professor at Penn State, said. “Isolated (偏僻的) areas, such as New Orleans, develop different dialects. Since there is no contact between regions, entire words and languages can grow and develop independently. Social standing and education also affect the language of an individual person.” It is thought that accents have psycho-social purposes, allowing individuals to identify oneself and others as part of a group.

Everyone has an accent. A dialect coach like Valentine can help one learn to speak differently, for an acting job or for fun.     5    . Learning a second language as an adult is difficult; for much the same reason, it’s tricky to change your accent. With that in mind, watching Valentine change accents at the drop of a hat is all the more impressive.

A.In fact, all accents are worthy of pride
B.One’s birthplace can affect his accent
C.However, not all accents are worth learning
D.While much work with actors is done in one-on-one coaching
E.They can signal one’s living places, education and personality
F.On TikTok, she gives examples of simple phrases repeated in over 20 accents
G.A region’s location has a direct influence on the development of a local language

·Define your boundaries

The definition of a boundary is a line that marks the limits of an area; it's both a line of containment (keeping you in) and a line of protection (keeping others out). 文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了当你在某一天有很多任务要完成时,先做一些特别简单的事情对你来说可能更合适。

7 . When you have many tasks to accomplish on a given day, there are a few different approaches you can take to kick-start your productivity. You can “eat the frog”, that is, you can get your hardest, most demanding responsibility out of the way before anything else.     1     Here’s why that might be a better fit for you.

When you eat the frog and take on a difficult task right away, you are supposed to focus on it absorbedly and get it all done. The problem with that is the smaller, boring responsibilities are stuck in your head.     2     Knocking those out first could clear the path you need to really get into deep work when it’s time to do something more challenging or time-consuming.

In general, the task you’re scared or procrastinating (拖延的) on the most is probably the one that’s going to take the most effort.     3     I’m great at focusing on big projects and terrible at doing the little tasks. I can sit down to write a long essay, but sometimes will put off a one-pager for weeks, only to realize it took me all of 15 minutes to complete. The key to selecting a small task to do first every day is identifying one you know will be easy, but will result in some kind of reward feeling in your brain. Whether it’s easy or not doesn’t matter as long as you’ll feel good when it’s over.     4

5     Use a system like the Eisenhower matrix or Kanban to figure out what you actually need to do, then select something from that category that you’ll be able to get done quickly and efficiently, get it out of the way, and bask in the accomplishment as you move forward with your day and its more difficult demands.

A.But that doesn’t always have to be true.
B.On the other hand, you could pick out something especially easy first.
C.This always makes it seem like other big tasks you need to handle are simple.
D.That feeling of accomplishment can be large and can end your day with an easy win.
E.You may not be able to focus if you’re preoccupied with a bunch of other little things.
F.And picking something you don’t exactly want to do is an easy way to make sure that happens.
G.Beyond that, you should make a habit of sorting your responsibilities by timeliness and importance.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了父母应该如何帮助孩子合理地使用社交媒体。

8 . Most of you may want your kids to stay away from social media because it can bring harm. But social media can have a positive effect on them, like helping them learn how to communicate with others, improve relationships and deal with somebody who isn’t being kind to them.     1    . If you decide to let your kids use social media, follow a few tips to help them better explore the social media world.

Talk to your kids. From the beginning, it’s important to have an open and honest conversation with your kids about what social media is and what it can be used for. Ask why they’re interested in having an account on a particular platform and what they want to use it for.     2    .

Limit screen time. The American Academy of Pediatrics (儿科) recommends limiting screen time to two hours a day for kids.     3    , but parents should also focus on a bigger picture—making sure your kids are getting enough physical activity and face-to-face interactions.

Monitor their usage.     4    , whether that’s scrolling through (滚动浏览) their tablet or phone or using a social media monitoring tool. “See what apps are there and familiarize yourself with those,” psychologist Kate Eshleman says. “Ask yourself if this tool is going to fit your goal.”

5    . Easier said than done, right? But practicing safe and healthy social media behaviors in front of your kids really matters. “It’s much harder for kids to understand the potential dangers or risks of social media when parents engage in the same behaviors themselves,” Eshleman says.

A.Be a role model
B.That’s a good guideline
C.Check on what your kids are consuming
D.Put a ban on improper social media behaviors
E.As they start venturing into the world of social media, keep talking
F.Parents should know how to interact with their kids on social media
G.Therefore, no social media at all might not be the best solution for your kids

9 . Like working out or eating healthily, being happy is something you have to work on.     1     The good news is that a growing body of research shows there are simple things you can do to help you learn how to be happy at work, and they don’t require huge changes.

2     It affects how you feel at work for the rest of the day. In one study, researchers analyzed the moods and performance of customer service representatives. Those who were in a good mood in the morning were more productive during the day and reported having more positive interactions with customers.     3     You can take a few minutes to enjoy your morning coffee and you can get some fresh air.

One of the hardest aspects of your job is making dozens of decisions daily, often with little or incomplete information. So how can you make fewer decisions? You can do something of your day without thinking about it. For example, have the same thing for lunch or breakfast for a week. Then you can change it up the following week.     4     Steve Jobs said that he wore the same clothes daily so that he wouldn’t have to spend energy deciding what to wear.

Helping others makes you happier.     5     Helping your co-workers seems to create a virtuous (良性的) cycle. Another study says happier workers are 33% more likely to help their colleagues than those who aren’t happy.

A.It’s a skill that takes practice.
B.How you feel in the morning really matters a lot.
C.Give your colleagues a hand when it is possible.
D.You’ve just removed a bunch of decisions from your day.
E.You can write down three small things you will get done.
F.So do something in the morning that makes you feel good.
G.One simple way to do this is put a reminder on your calendar.

10 . Making a to-do list is a powerful way to reduce your stress at work.     1     There are a few steps that will make your to-do list much more effective.

• Don’t randomly (随机地) date tasks.

Some people usually add a date to every task they write. They end up with a list of tasks that do not need to be done on the day. You will break the schedule.     2     Instead, only put a date on the task which you intend to do on that day.

• Keep your daily list to no more than ten tasks.

3     They believe they are much busier than that and must have at least twenty tasks on their lists. In fact they are not going to get them done. They will get frustrated at the end of the day. So pick the ten most important tasks on your list.

• Group similar tasks together.

Call your customers, for example. If you have two or three such tasks on your daily list, put these together and do them at the same time.     4     Then do them one after another.

    5

It puts you in complete control. It allows you to stay on top of your work and decide what needs to be done next and what can be postponed to a later time. It’s the best way of starting the week with a plan and a direction. It is a way to make sure you are doing the right things.

A.Do a weekly review.
B.Or you will just ignore them.
C.Some people often laugh at my advice.
D.Write clearly about what you need to do.
E.Arrange thirty minutes or so to do your calls.
F.If you are away on a business trip, reduce the number of tasks.
G.However, getting all those things out of your head is just the first step. Do a weekly review.
