As the tea     1     (distribute) and trade center of the ancient Tea Horse Road, Pu’er City is recognized as the origin of the renowned Pu’er tea and tea culture. But     2     is less known is that the city is also the “coffee capital of China”. In 2023, Pu’er produced a total of 55,700 tons of coffee, accounting     3     over 50% of the national coffee production. The     4     (city) coffee history can trace back to 1892 when a French missionary planted the first coffee tree in a village in Pu’er. By 2023 the coffee plantations     5     (expand) to 680,000 mu. For the people of Pu’er tea and coffee have evolved more     6     just beverages (饮料) — they are a way of life. The city     7     (dot) with tea houses and coffee shops, where the aromas of these two beverages mingle in the air, offering a     8     (delight) fusion of ancient and modern, tradition and trend, and Eastern and Western cultures. Tea and coffee plantations in Pu’er not only enhance the local ecology and yield high-quality products, but also serve as tourism resources. In addition to tea,     9     (current) there are 13 top coffee farms in the city. The “Xiao’aozi coffee farm” is an internet-famous tourist destination in Pu’er where visitors can pay just 60 yuan     10     (taste) nine different types of coffee, experience coffee brewing and learn about coffee processing techniques.

The number of Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers, moving from Russia into northeastern China,     1    (increase) because of lower levels human activity, improvements in their habitat     2     a smoother transit corridor between countries. The area     3     tigers lived across the Sino-Russian border expanded by about 12 kilometers every three years from 2003-2016. In 2021 the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park was established.     4     (cover) approximately 14,100 square kilometers, the park straddles the provinces of Heilongjiang and Jilin. By the end of 2021 the number of wild Amur tigers living there     5     (rise) to 50 from 27 in 2017. The conservation of tigers is recognized as a global challenge, due to     6     (they) expansive habitat requirements. A female needs 400 to 500 square kilometers while a male requires over 1, 000 square kilometers. The collaboration between these neighboring parks creates a     7     (share) home for the animals. The construction of the Sino-Russian cross-border environmental corridor is vital     8     several barriers hinder the movement of tigers between the two sides. Border fences and roads built in the area are among those obstacles. Efforts are required by both sides     9     (promote) the corridor. As the population of prey species including wild boar and deer rises, Amur tigers are travelling     10     (far) into China for food. The expansion of the tigers’ range is expected to continue.

In today’s increasingly busy world, more and more of us are experiencing fatigue (疲劳). There is an increase in the condition chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS),     1     is a physical and mental disorder that makes us feel extremely tired. That tiredness does not go away even if we rest. Sleep specialist Sammy Margo said: “Our lifestyles are always busy and in a rush,     2     (result) in high stress and inadequate sleep. People with CFS suffer from     3     lack of energy that affects every aspect of our day. While there is no cure for CFS, a well-balanced diet can play a role of great     4     (significant) in helping manage symptoms and boost energy     5     (level).

He also offered some advice about how to deal with fatigue. He     6     (advise) people to try his three-step bedtime plan. Step one is to turn the lights     7     because light keeps our brain active. He said blue light from phones and laptops is particularly     8     (harm). The second step is a good room temperature of around 19℃. A cool room helps to reduce body temperature, which helps initiate sleep. The final step is     9     (reduce) all noise. As for food, it     10     (recommend) that we eat bananas to help us get a better night’s rest because bananas contain chemicals that encourage sleep.
