Acquiring knowledge is not only a means of understanding the world better, but also a way of     1     (appreciate) how much we don't know. Admitting what we don't know can       2     (perceive) as a chance for us to know the hidden importance. For example, the blank spaces between the objects were of great       3     (important) to the success of the composition.

There are several reasons for us to be lifelong learners.     4     (expose) to many new ideas, beliefs, practices and learning experiences, we should make efforts to adapt     5     (we) to the changing world. New knowledge is constantly being generated,     6     reminds us to revise what we already know and keep pace with the latest developments.

So, how can we proceed? We need to have an open mind and develop critical thinking skills, in order not to follow something     7     (blind). Besides, opportunities for lifelong learning should be taken advantage     8     as well. Finally, it is       9    (sufficient) to simply know something without application and     10       review process.

In conclusion, we should never cease to learn to benefit both human society, and individuals.

In the past year, I had an unforgettable experience of learning tai chi. Honestly speaking, I admitted that I     1     (feel) hesitant at first but with time passing by, it really had a huge effect on me     2     (physical) and mentally. Not only were I deeply impressed by the moves that caught my imagination, such as “white crane spreading its wings” and “golden rooster standing on one leg”, but also I     3     (inspire) to explore Chinese culture.

It is all about keeping a balance between yin and yang,     4     are believed to form the unity of opposites. The practice of taichi aims     5     (maintain) the balance of our body through opposite     6     (movement): up and down, left and right, forwards and backwards, breathing in and breathing out. By performing the routine, tai chi eventually brings     7     a state of physical and mental peace. No wonder it is a best way to relax your mind and body.

I also experienced a short period of tiredness and boredom. Thanks to the patient guidance of professional coach, I gradually found to my     8     (satisfy) that I could focus on peace of mind and sleep better,     9     (enable) me to stay cool under pressure. I am sure I will continue to practice tai chi and enjoy     10     benefits it has brought me.

Happy 18th birthday! You’ve officially reach     1     (adult) in a lot of ways, even though I know you’re already mature beyond your years.

Many bittersweet events will happen in the next ten years. There will be highs. Stick to     2     (cherish) every single second. There will also be lows, and you may feel     3     (dishearten). But you’ll surely be committed to     4     (make) it through, and    5     (gradual) you’ll get stronger than before.

The world will always throw new challenges at you.     6     a consequence, your strength will be tested again and again. Looking back to what has happened over the last decade, I feel proud of how far you’ve come. Approve     7     everything that contributes to your     8     (become) fearless and independent.

As you become an adult, jump at every opportunity     9    comes your way. Celebrate every chance you get. No doubt you’ll always ponder     10    it and make the right decision.
