Young people dressed in hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group in China,     1     (spot) in many locations around the world during this year’s Spring Festival holiday.

An initiative     2     (launch) in late January by a Chinese social media platform invited users to upload photos or     3     (video) of themselves and friends wearing hanfu at landmarks around the world from January 28 to February 19.

The first two weeks of the initiative saw about 10, 000 users share their photos taken from around 30 countries and regions around the world, one of     4     even posted photos from Antarctica. Many young Chinese people working or studying overseas also invited their foreign friends to wear traditional Chinese costumes     5     (celebrate) the Spring Festival together.

Hanfu, as well as other traditional forms of Chinese costume,     6     (experience) a surge (飞涨) in popularity in recent years. Clothes     7     (feature) traditional Chinese elements combined     8     modern designs, which are called the new Chinese style, have developed into     9     fashion trend among the younger generations not only in China, but also worldwide.

Analysts say the rise of “China chic”     10     (definite) reflects young Chinese people’s confidence in their own culture. Wearing Chinese-style costumes reflects the wearer’s Eastern temperament, and presents Chinese aesthetics to the world.

In the Ming Dynasty, a Chinese man Wan Hu made the world’s first rocket (火箭), but     1     (lucky) he lost his life with it. It was not until April 24, 1970     2     China launched (发射) its first man-made satellite Dongfanghong-1 successfully.     3     (celebrate) the first big success in the country’s space     4     (develop), we now make April 24 China’s Space Day.

China also announces new plans to make a space station and go to Mars and further space. The space station will be finished     5     (build) around 2022. According to China’s top space scientist Zhou Jianping,     6     that time, becoming an astronaut will be     7    normal job. More astronauts are needed than ever before. They need to be able to finish difficult tasks.

By now, China     8     (choose) astronauts mainly from pilots like Yang Liwei. In the future,     9    (astronaut) will be picked from engineers, doctors and space technology experts. Another plan is about Mars. In order to explore Mars, China sent a spacecraft (航天器), named Tianwen-1, to Mars on July 23, 2020,     10     will land on Mars and even bring back things from Mars.

A total of 12 areas across China have been required to innovate, protect and develop     1     copyright of Chinese folk cultures as an national pilot program. The pilot consists     2     four provinces, including Jiangsu and Sichuan, as well as eight cities, including Weifang and Huangshan. The program     3    (carry) out during last year’s International Copyright Forum,     4     was held in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province.

Folklore is an important treasure of Chinese civilization, so it is essential to strengthen the     5    (protect), promotion and spread of folk cultures. The move is not only a requirement for promoting the creative transformation of traditional cultures, but also a key way to enhance the country’s cultural soft power and improve     6    (it) cultural self-confidence and self-growth.

While     7    (give) full play to advantages of local folk resources and clarifying the current situation of the country’s folk customs, the pilot areas will enhance public awareness of protecting the copyright of folk cultures     8     promote copyright innovation, application, management and services.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Jianchun, vice-minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called for greater efforts to fully advance high-quality development and     9    (active) encourage creation through copyright. “Copyright protection is a guarantee, so we’d like     10    (increase) exchanges and cooperation with the world,” he said.

A group of researchers and scientists from home and abroad are working together    1    (record) and collect digital images of the cultural relics from the Mogao Caves, in an effort to promote the    2    (appreciate) of China's ancient cultural heritage. Nearly 500,000 high-quality digital photographs    3    (produce) since the international project started in 1994. The Mogao Caves, as    4    key stop along the Silk Road throughout China’s ancient history, have long been a meeting point for different cultures. The caves are    5     international as they were at the time    6    people travelled the Silk Road.

The group hopes to promote even    7    (wide) interest around the world in China’s ancient history, culture and traditions. They also hope to further educate people about the importance of    8    (protect) historic and cultural relics for future generations to understand and appreciate. As one researcher working    9    the project explains, “Appreciating one’s own cultural heritage    10    (be) very important for understanding oneself. Appreciating the cultural heritage of other countries is very important for international communication and understanding.”

Nanyin is a form of ancient Chinese music. It dates back to the Han Dynasty when people from Central Plains of ancient China brought     1     (they) music to Quanzhou, Fujian province. Later, it mixed with the local music.

Nanyin is traditionally played by     2     group of five people. The singer     3     plays the wooden clapper to keep the beat stands in the middle of the other four.     4     (usual) , on the left are two musicians who play a bamboo flute culled dongxiao and erxian. And on the right are two musicians     5     (play) pipa and sanxian. As for the unique singing style, which is usually sung in the southern Fujian dialect, every song tells a story.

However, Nanyin was nearly     6     (destroy) during the Mid-nineteenth century. Despite being survived, the art lost a lot of its audience. It     7     (take) the Quanzhou local government more than 38 million yuan to preserve and develop Nanyin since 2004. In order to pass down this cultural heritage, schools in Quanzhou have made Nanyin a course that students in both kindergarten     8     primary schools can take. Now 400 Nanyin clubs in Quanzhou have more than 7,000 players.

In 2009, Nanyin was listed     9     intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. “We sincerely hope that more     10     (teenager) can join us in breathing new life into this culture.” said Mr. Chen, chairman of Quanzhou Nanyin Artists Association.

Jiangjun Village used to be a dull place during winter. But the development of art areas has promoted tourism,     1     (give) it a new lease of life and making the winter scene much brighter nowadays. Art galleries, museums, and theaters now can       2     (see) located among its small cottages. The dilapidated (破旧的) houses have been changed into     3     (restaurant) and teahouses.

In 2021, the village government, the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and several other bodies established a rural artist construction pilot project,     4     centered on a dilapidated village courtyard called Lotus Cave. The project planned       5     (build) 10 core art areas , aiming to integrate the new facilities into the village's environment, culture and. local characteristics.

When the project was launched, Lotus Cave     6     (be) a rundown collection of residential buildings in poor repair. But it has now been largely transformed by the hard work of artists and villagers.

The art museum in the center of the village used to be       7     dilapidated house that was overgrown with weeds. During the renovation work, the building’s original framework was restored     8     part of the adobe wall was preserved.

More exhibitions and art activities are now being held at Lotus Cave, attracting tourists     9     far afield. The injection of new life has tempted (吸引) many villagers who moved away to return and take a look at       10     (they) previous home.

This is the first time that I     1     (spend) the Naadam Festival with my friend Burin in China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region this year. The festival,     2     (represent) by horse racing, wrestling and archery, falls on the fourth day of the sixth month of the lunar calendar,     3     usually lasts for three days.

Of the three events, two have left a deep impression     4     me: wrestling and horse racing. Mongolian wrestling is different from     5     in the Olympic Games. Though I am tired now, celebrating Naadam with my friend was     10     (total) worth it.

An expedition to the South Pole with the great Sir Ernest Shackleton — this is the adventure that I     1     (dream) of. However,     2     I applied to join the expedition, Shackleton turned me down because he thought I was too young and wasn’t     3     (qualify), so I secretly went aboard his ship, the Endurance. Later I     4     (discover) and Shackleton had to assign me to be     5     steward. The journey wasn’t very easy, for Endurance was stuck in the ice as we approached Antarctica. And when the ship sank, our hearts sank with it. Before we abandoned the ship, Shackleton     6     (calm) told us to rescue our most essential supplies and he     7     (he) threw away all his gold. He allowed Hussey to keep his banjo,     8     made us surprised. We had been struggling for days, but things were going from bad to worse. Soon after we arrived at Elephant Island, Shackleton left us to find help. Sometimes we were able to catch a seal or a penguin to eat. I tried to think of     9     (happy) things. I was grateful, for Frank and Ernest’s genuine concern for others, their perseverance, and their resolve filled me     10     hope.
