1 . People in different places have very different ideas about what to eat. In our country, for example, people from the south like to eat rice while people in the north love dumplings or noodles. In Hunan or Sichuan, hot food is people’s favorite; however, people in Shanghai or Suzhou eat sweet dish almost every day.

But even if people live in the same part of the country, their tastes (口味) are not always the same. Old people and young ones have different tastes; men and women also have their different preferences (喜好). In a restaurant, some customs order thick and heavy soup, while others drink thin and clear one. A few people only eat vegetables. They do not eat fish or chicken at all!

So it is not easy for restaurants to meet the needs of all customers (顾客). To make more money, the restaurants in cities try their best to cook different kinds of foods.

2 . It’s hard to imagine that just 25 years ago, Berlin was a city split (分开) into two by the Berlin Wall. I’ll never forget how people were excited as the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. Since then, Berlin has become one of the coolest cities in Europe. Here are the main reasons why I think Berlin is cool.

It’s affordable. Berlin has cheap hotels and everyday objects. You don’t have to worry about spending too much money when visiting Berlin.

It has fantastic festivals. Berlin knows how to give parties, and there is a festival here every month of the year. Perhaps the most famous is the Berlin International Film Festival.

It has great architecture (建筑设计). Berlin has beautiful architecture of its own. The Brandenburg Gate, built in the 18th century, is one of the city’ s most famous buildings, symbolizing more than 200 years of history. The TV Tower is as good as the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the London Eye.

The art scene is flourishing (繁荣). Berlin is a city of living art. Artists are allowed to create works of art on the sides of buildings.

If you want to visit an affordable European city with culture and lots of colors, Berlin is the place to be. What are you waiting for? Get to Europe’s coolest city before everyone else discovers it.

3 . Have you ever felt like a fool for having said too much? Anita Chow had one of those moments.

A few weeks ago, she applied for a job in a company. Chow said she is usually quiet, but during the interview she tried hard to act against her nature. She smiled a lot and talked in a lively manner. When asked why she wanted to work in the company, she said the job would enable her to meet a lot of interesting people. Then she added jokingly, “Who knows? I might even meet my future husband. ”

Chow wanted to beat herself up the moment she stepped out of the interview room. “It came out so wrong, ” she says. “Now the interviewers will think of me as one of those women who don't have any career ambition and just want to get married and settle down. ”

Saying too much or oversharing happens to every one of us. In the time of social media, sharing every detail of your life is almost expected and encouraged. But it isn't all social media's fault. “Experts say oversharing often happens when we are trying subconsciously to control our anxiety, "according to a Wall Street Journal column. Chow's story is a typical case of “self-adjustment" aimed at fighting her own anxiety. It happens like this: When having a conversation, we want to sound amusing and interesting. So we use a lot of mental energy trying to manage the other person's impression of us. The effort required to do this leaves less brainpower to think over what we say and to whom, says The Wall Street Journal.

This explains why we sometimes suddenly say embarrassing things to people we want to impress most, whether it's a first date, the boss or our future in-laws. It leads to embarrassing situations and is the perfect material for comedy movies.

So how do you stop yourself from saying too much? Simple: stop and think before you open your mouth.
