1 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Jackson sat at his school desk and looked over at the new kid in class. His name was Billy and he just moved here from Florida. His first day in class was yesterday and, so far, Jackson had not talked to him. Today, during the break, Jackson was going to try to make a new friend.

When the bell rang, Jackson hurried out of his seat and followed Billy outside.

“Hi Billy,” Jackson said as they walked outside. “Do you want to play basketball?”

“No. I’m not very good at basketball.”

“Do you want to play kickball?” Jackson asked.

“No. I’m not good at that either,” Billy said. Billy walked away from Jackson and sat on a big flat rock in the grassy part of the school yard.

Jackson stood there and wondered what to do next. He asked Billy to do two things and both times Billy had said no. Maybe he didn’t like Jackson. Maybe he didn’t want to be friends. Jackson thought about playing basketball with the other kids. He looked over at Billy sitting on the rock all by himself. It must be hard to move to a new school, Jackson thought.

6 . When I was six, Dad brought home a dog one day, who was called “Brownie”. My brothers and I all loved Brownie and did different things with her. One of us would walk her, another would feed her, then there were baths, playing catch and many other games. Brownie, in return, loved each and every one of us. One thing that most touched my heart was that she would go to whoever was sick and just be with them. We always felt better when she was around.
One day, as I was getting her food, she chewed up(咬破)one of Dad’s shoes, which had to be thrown away in the end. I knew Dad would be mad and I had to let her know what she did was wrong. When I looked at her and said, “Bad girl,” she looked down at the ground and then went and hid. I saw a tear in her eyes.
Brownie turned out to be more than just our family pet. She went everywhere with us. People would stop and ask if they could pat her. Of course she’d let anyone pat her. She was just the most lovable dog. There were many times when we’d be out walking and a small child would come over and pull on her hair. she never barked(吠) or tried to get away. 7 . How to Recognize a True Friend

Sometimes it can be hard to recognize a true friend. Hopefully this article will help you recognize which friends are the keepers.

Be able to trust your friends. You should be able to trust true friends and they should return this trust. Do your friends tell you secrets that no one else knows? Ask you for advice?    1     However, if your friends hide things from you and act secretly, then this is a sign that they may not trust you.

2     Think about it. How comfortable are your friends when they are around you? Are they being themselves around you? Are they acting fake or perhaps hiding something? True friendships can take a while to develop, but if your friends are true they should feel comfortable around you, and vice versa ( You with them)

Think about loyalty(忠诚).     3     If you are in need of a helping hand, your true friends should be there to offer it to you. True friends don’t try to get one another into trouble. A true friend will always be loyal to you and will not reveal secrets.

Think about nicknames. A lot of true friends love to give each other nicknames! If your friend is giving you nicknames, then this is a great sign. Think of the nickname your friend has given you, does it suit you well?     4

Look at how you fight. Nearly all best friends fight.     5     True friends will find their way through a fight, no matter what the size is. True friends will remain “faithful” to each other even during a fight. They will not tell each others’ secrets, and they still care about each other.

A.Consider comfort.
B.Choose your friends carefully.
C.True friends are always there for one another.
D.Both are sure signs that your friend trusts you.
E.If so, this shows your friend must know you quite well.
F.So if you and your friend have a little argument, don’t worry!

8 . Family is the most important thing in the world. Sometimes it can be hard to get along with family members but you love them. How can you have a better relationship with your family members?     1

Spend more time together.

Think about how much time you spend with your family already. Is it enough?

2     Arrange time when you all have freedom to do things together. Go on a picnic, visit a museum, go to a sports match and so on.

Improve yourself.

Perhaps they complain about your grades, your attitude or your lack of goals; don’t assume it’s all nagging. Some of what they are saying is most likely for your own good, and they’re trying to protect you from life’s hardships and encourage you to be the best you can be.     3

Be as independent as you can.

For example, don’t ask your father to wake you up in the morning.     4     Or, don’t expect your parents to help you out all the time, especially not as an adult.

    5

If your parents come home late at night after work, try to make a simple dinner for them, instead of making your mother cook for you again. If your brother or sister is not doing well at school, show him or her how to succeed with the subjects.

A.Be helpful.
B.Make dinners yourself.
C.Here are a few tips you can follow.
D.Instead, set an alarm clock beside your table.
E.You should understand why they complain about your performance.
F.Improve your attitude and work on the things that family members comment on.
G.If not, what can you do to improve things and find more time to spend together?
