2 . Many of the world-class London museums offer plenty of things to do to families. Whether you are a local or a tourist, visiting the museums makes for a great family day out in London. Let’s learn about four of them today.
British Museum
It houses a huge collection of antiquities (文物) from ancient and living cultures. World-famous objects children will be interested in include the Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies. With so much to see, their free Museum explorer trails (路线) effectively enable you to narrow down the focus when you visit the museum with your children.
Museum of London Docklands
This museum explores the history of the River Thames, the port of London and the people from the arrival of the Romans to the building of Canary Wharf. It is a fantastic museum to visit with young children. There are hands-on activities for kids. Mudlarks, the museum’s play area, is excellent for those under 8.
Horniman Museum & Gardens
Its far-out location means that you can expect lots of lovely breathing space at a museum that is not likely to be packed with visitors. Located in Forest Hill, the huge building looks a bit like a train station. There are plenty of hands-on exhibitions (展览) throughout the museum and wonderful gardens to explore.
Victoria and Albert Museum
South Kensington’s V&A is one of the world’s largest art and design museums, and it’s arguably London’s most attractive. Just the building it-self is well worth the visit. The collection is helpfully broken down into different topics, such as fashion and furniture. During the school holidays, there are hands-on events and performances to inspire the whole family.
