6 . I'm ashamed to say that,as the years have gone by,I haven't taken the time to walk around my neighborhood. Sure.I'm out and about all the time but always in the car to my way out of the neighborhood.
The main reason is that I don't love my neighborhood anymore.I'm referring to the place,not the people. My street used to come to an end in a forest. We would walk the dogs in the forest that always had nice,seasonal flowers and shrubs(灌木)coming up all year round. Now it's gone and been replaced(取代)by a forest of high-rise buildings.

8 . A castle was the fortress(堡垒)and home of a king or nobleman.
Most of the castles we think of today were built in Europe. They were constructed from about 1,000 AD to about 1,500 AD, during a period known as the Middle Ages.
Castles played an important role after the fall of the Roman Empire. When a king granted land to nobles, the nobles promised in return to serve the king and provide him with soldiers. Nobles built castles on the lands given to them. But some nobles simply claimed land as their own and built a castle on it. That was asking for trouble. There were many power struggles between nobles and kings, and among the nobles themselves.
A typical stone castle had several main parts. At the centre of the castle was a tall and very strong building called the keep. This is where people in the castle made their last stand if the outer defences failed. The keep was set in a courtyard, where there were workshops, stables, and a kitchen.
High, thick walls surrounded the keep and the courtyard. Strong, round defensive towers stood at the corners of the walls. Guards walked along the tops of the walls and towers.
Many stone castles were surrounded by a wide ditch called a moat. Some moats were filled with water, but many were not. The only way into the castle was across a wooden drawbridge over the moat. If enemies attacked, the defenders raised the bridge. Then they lowered a heavy iron-and-wood barrier called a portcullis to block the entrance to the castle.
A well-built castle was a pretty safe place to be. Attackers had a hard time getting in. But they still had some options. They could go over the walls using ladders. They could smash (撞碎) through the walls or doors. Or they could dig under the walls and try to get part of the wall to fall down. If none of those things worked, they could just camp outside until the defenders ran out of food.
Attackers sometimes brought large machines called siege engines with them to break through castle doors or walls. This was a heavy wooden beam with a metal cap. In the early 1500s, cannons entered wide use in warfare. Cannonballs could dig into the base of stone walls and weaken them. The walls then fell under their own weight. As a result, castles were no longer needed.

Walk into your room. Hold the first thing you see. Does it bring you joy? If so, keep it; if not, toss it. Interesting way of decluttering, right? Well, that’s the KonMari Method, developed by Marie Kondo.
Her method does not stop there, though. Once you’ve finished discarding, start organizing. While many preach (鼓吹) that you start at one end of the room and finish at the other, the KonMari Method states that organizing proves to be more effective if you base cleaning around category rather than location. For example, the KonMari Method suggests that you begin with clothes, then miscellaneous items, and lastly, sentimental items.
So, Does This Work?
Well, about 8 million people think so! She has her own show on Netflix and is on Time Magazine’s list of 100 influential people. More than anything, followers of this method seem to appreciate its effectiveness and the benefits from tidiness.
What are the benefits, you ask? For one, a healthier lifestyle. As a result of a cleaner room, many people reportedly experienced a better night’s sleep. Whether you’re aware of it or not, sometimes clutter around your room can be the source of your stress.
In a study by Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, people in messy rooms had high cortisol (皮质醇) levels; high cortisol levels can trigger weight gain, a slower immune system, and stress. In a clean room, studies have shown reduced levels of heart attack risk and better eating choices. According to a study on the impact of a tidy room on an individual’s eating habits, people in a clean room are two times as likely to choose an apple over a chocolate bar!
Now, for the Other Side…
If you have a messy room, don’t fret, there are definitely some pros to having some clutter.
Countless studies, published in The New York Times and the University of Minnesota to name a couple, have proven that messiness and creativity are strongly correlated. Take a look at Mark Twain, Albert Einstein, and Steve Jobs. Their workspaces were nowhere close to tidy! And what came from that? An author whose pieces of literature continue to be taught in classrooms across the United States, a legendary physicist who changed the way scientists approached gravity and time, and the creator of Apple!

A program Child Friendly To is working to transform Toronto into a place where all children can learn, play and grow in the healthiest way. We are building a culture that applies a child-friendly view to city planning and decision-making by increasing the role and voice of children in city management and increasing the rights of children across Toronto. We believe that:
★Children are important residents with unique ideas and experiences that have the power to change how we make plans and decisions.
★Children are experts in child-friendliness. Listening to children's ideas creates opportunity and improves equality. Building a city that is friendly to children requires an understanding of what living in the city is like -or a child.
★Engaging with children is our responsibility and duty. Local government has a responsibility to listen to children, as with all residents, when making plans and decisions.
November 20th is National Child Day in Canada. The day celebrates the importance of children as active participants in their own lives and communities, who can and should have opportunities for meaningful contributions to decision-making.
To celebrate National Child Day 2020, an event was held at City Hall with local students and city leaders. Children in grades four and five in Toronto were invited to share their ideas about creating a child-friendly city. We asked them:
