1 . The Chinese public on Tuesday sent their blessings to astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu—the crew of the Shenzhou-13 spaceflight mission, who have lived and worked in Tianhe space station core module for exactly one month since October 16.

Some 30 million Chinese netizens participated in online discussions of the event on Tuesday.

On seeing the latest images of the crew, some sharp eyes netizens are wondering if the food onboard is so yummy that the three lookedpuffyon camera.

“In zero gravity, liquids inside the human body would go upward into their faces and heads, causing them to look fatter. That’s a moon face, which is a common phenomenon.”said Pang Zhihao, a senior space expert in Beijing. Two-thirds of people’s bodies are made up of liquids. On Earth, gravity pulls most of this toward legs. The extra liquid in the head may lead to blocked noses and sinuses (鼻窦炎), but once the astronauts are back on Earth, they return to their normal appearance, according to the BBC. To feel better and relieve the “puffy face syndrome”, suggested that a negative pressure device may come in handy, as it could reverse the upward movement of liquids.

Planned to last six months, Shenzhou-13 mission is the longest space stay for a single space-flight mission in China’s history. One of the highlights of the first month’s stay in the Tianhe station was the successful execution (实施) of the Shenzhou-13’s first spacewalk, during which Zhai and Wang, the female astronaut, stepped out of the core module and completed all planned tasks in six and a half hours.

The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA)said in a statement at the time that the spacewalk, the first of the Shenzhou-13 mission and the third during the country’s space station building period, has further proved the performance of China’s home-developed spacesuit, the ability of the astronauts to work with the robotic arm, and the reliability and safety of the supporting system. The Shenzhou-13 crew will carry out another one or two spacewalks during the mission.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了正在全球肆虐的新冠病毒产生变体的原因及其可能带来的挑战。

2 . Nowadays, we are very worried about such COVID-19 variants as Delta and Omicron. To relieve our anxieties, we should have a look at our own cell and the original COVID-19 virus.

First of all, our cell isn’t stupid. If any virus wants to enter our cell, it must figure out a way for its spike (触手) to hold tightly to the spike on the cell’s surface. You can imagine this connecting as a secret handshake.

At the early stage, the COVID-19 virus figured out a way to connect to a specific spike on the surface of human cell, called ACE2. But the connecting wasn’t perfect. However, it was good enough to trick the ACE2 to let it in.

Once the virus was inside the cell, it kept copying itself in order to find more cells to infect. During this time, the immune (免疫) system started making antibodies to fight back. Some of those antibodies acted like little caps that stick to the ends of the virus’s spike. Once “capped”, the infection couldn’t move forward, and the body won!

But every time the virus copies itself inside a cell, it has the chance of changing its spikes slightly. Most of the variations are actually harmful to the virus. So these variants disappear. However, once the virus hits upon a set of variations that actually help the virus to connect more tightly to the cell or more quickly, a person’s cell gets infected more easily.

Then what about the antibodies? Aren’t they coming to save us again? Well, yes... and no.

Scientists found that a person who was infected with the earlier version of the virus may not be protected as well against these new variants. He still can be infected, again. However, the antibodies’ spikes come in different shapes, too. So even though some antibodies become less useful, others will get the job done—or at least, hold back the infection long enough so the body can make new antibodies that fit perfectly on the changed spike.

1. What does the underlined word "it" in paragraph 2 refer to?
A.The virus.B.The cell.
C.The spike.D.The connection.
2. What is the fifth paragraph mainly about?
A.How a virus enters the human cell.
B.How a virus copies itself inside a cell.
C.Why the immune system can fight back.
D.Why virus variants have different infection rates.
3. What can be learned from the text?
A.COVID-19 variants will become more and more infectious.
B.It is unlikely for COVID-19 patients to get infected again.
C.Old antibodies might be less effective against new variants.
D.It is hopeless to get rid of the COVID-19 in the near future.
4. What is the best title for the text?
A.Worries About the COVID-19 Variants
B.A Simple Guide to COVID-19 Variants
C.The Danger of the Deadly COVID-19 Virus
D.Ways to Protect Ourselves From COVID-19 Virus

6 . Your Internet experience is ruined when the net speed is too slow – it takes so long to open a web page and a video you’re watching stops every few minutes. That can be very annoying.

But it could be a thing of the past. On June 3, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that China would issue(颁发)licenses of 5G. It means the age of 5G is coming.

The “G” in “5G” refers to the generations of mobile network technologies. 1G let us talk to each other, 2G let us send messages, 3G gave us mobile data and the internet, and 4G made all of these things faster.

Now 5G means much faster data download and upload speeds, and more stable(稳定的) connections. It also means that you will be able to download an entire HD movie in seconds and only experience a short delay between sending and receiving data. For example, when you have a video chat with your friend, there is generally a 100 to 200 milliseconds(毫秒) delay with 4G, but 5G will reduce the delay to 1 millisecond or less, which is almost real time.

What changes will 5G bring us?

According to the Straits Times, 5G will be able to improve many advanced technologies, such as driverless cars, and entertainment. With a 5G network, the short delay in information exchange will allow driverless cars to run more safely, as they will be able to communicate in real time and avoid potential(潜在的) dangers. Besides, VR(虚拟现实) games will become more popular with 5G. The short delay of 5G will make the games feel even more real.

Does 5G have any disadvantages?

According to the BBC, though 5G will make our lives more convenient, it will not be perfect. For one thing, 5G will not “travel” far. On 4G networks, you can be 10 kilometers away from the nearest transmission base(传输基地)and hardly lose signal. But 5G will only cover about 300 meters, meaning that we will need more transmitters(发射器) so that we can get signals. And in order to use 5G, we will have to buy new products specifically designed for 5G that are expensive at present.

1. According to the text, we know that ________.
A.You can surf the Internet with 2G service.
B.You can have a video chat with your friend with 4G service.
C.You can use any mobile phone to experience 5G services.
D.You can download an entire HD movie in seconds using 3G services.
2. In the passage the function of the first paragraph is to ________.
A.introduce the topic of the text.
B.tell readers some feelings.
C.explain what 5G is.
D.make a comment of Internet experience.
3. Why can driverless cars be more safely with a 5G network?
A.Because the short delay of 5G will make driverless cars feel even more comfortable.
B.Because driverless cars will be able to communicate in real time and avoid potential dangers.
C.Because the drivers will be more careful.
D.Because the drivers will hardly lose signal with5G network.
4. Which of the following best explains “travel” underlined in the last paragraph?
A.旅行B.盛行
C.传输D.移动
