Last month, I, as well as my parents, were invited to my uncle’s home in the United States. My uncle, moved to America when I was five, has been living there for nearly ten years. She met us in the airport. I was exciting when I set my foot on the land of America. In the followed days, we visited some places of interest and took photos in the front of the Statue of Liberty. We all enjoyed visiting the Museum of Natural History so it enriched our knowledge great. For me, this is one of the most rewarding trip that I have ever made in my life and I look forward to go there again.

3 . I'll never forget the day when Mary came into my office and said, I am too old to learn how to use a computer. I shook my head. Here was a woman who had raised 6 children and who had made great progress in her career telling me that she was too old to learn something new. I told her that I always believed people were never too old to learn.
Mary followed my advice and did learn how to use the computer. Now, she is retired and leading a very active life volunteering in her community(社区), using her computer skills and helping anyone that needs help.
When she was in her sixties, one day she called me and said she had played the piano for others all her life, and now she was going to plan to make a CD of her own. My mind flashed back to the day when she told me she was too old to learn. You can imagine my surprise and delight.
To produce the CD, she had a lot of things to learn. It was not just sitting at the piano and playing. She had to research the songs, learn about copyright(版权), and learn about marketing. It was pretty amazing for someone who once said she was too old to learn. And finally she made it. Now she has her own CD-Mixed Blessings.
Most of you probably have heard about some people who have gone back to university in their seventies and have also graduated. On the contrary, you can achieve anything at any age if you believe you can.

Oh!I looked at her for a few moments, wondering how I got into this mess, when suddenly an idea came to me.
Picking up two baskets from the living room,I explained,“When everyone is born,he or she has a little basket. This little one here is yours. The big one is mine. As you grow,so does the basket. You can see your little basket is inside mine because when you were born, there were too many things you couldn’t do for yourself. I did everything you couldn’t do on your own.”She nodded.
“Well,as you grew older and began to do some things on your own,I began placing a few more things in your basket. When you learned to tie your shoes, that went in your basket.”
She said softly,“I can tie my own shoes.”
“Right. As you grow older, there will be more and more things you must do on your own.” As I spoke,I gradually took her basket out of mine and handed it to her.“You will finally carry your own basket with things only you can do.”

When we came to the crossroads, a young man and a young woman came up to us and said: "We have expected you at long last." We all felt very strange. Then they explained us, "We were stopped by a policeman half an hour ago for ride a bike with a person on the seat behind. The policeman asked us to catch the next offender. Hope you don’t have to wait as long as we do. Good luck!" We had to stand on the road to find another offenders. Although we didn’t see the film that day, it made us to remember the traffic rules and we’ll never forget the usual day !
8 . The trouble started at 9:30 p.m. last New Year’s Eve, in Newmark. When the fire engines arrived at the fire, a very old woman was sitting in a third floor window. The firefighters placed a ladder (梯子) against the wooden house, and 26-year-old Marcus Reddick climbed 35 feet to the third floor.
The woman, 60 years old and very fat, was sitting with both feet out of the window. When Marcus reached the top of the ladder, the woman, afraid and nervous, put her two legs around him. Suddenly Marcus fell backwards off the ladder, with the large woman sitting on him. Marcus landed first — hitting a wall beside the front stairs — and broke the woman’s fall. She fell no more, but he fell another ten feet down the stairs. When the fire officer reached him, Marcus was unconscious.
Within an hour, a doctor told the men that Marcus was nearly brain dead, and would only get worse. Doctors talked of turning off the life-saving machine and asked if the family would like to give away his heart. The answer was “yes”.
On January 6, firefighters lifted Marcus’ coffin — covered with an American flag — onto a yellow fire engine. Hundreds of firefighters from all over the state joined the procession (行列) through Newmark streets. Children watched silently from school windows. The day Marcus died, his heart was given away to a young girl. His family said that it was the second life Marcus had saved.
