1 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

I hit the back window of a new car with a hammer. In a flash I was in. I started the car, just like my older brother had taught me. I was 12 then. It seems crazy now. Today, everyone knows me as Donald Driver, a famous football player. I've dedicated(致力于) my life after football to helping disadvantaged kids around the country.

Mom would have killed me if she'd known what I was up to. My dad had gone to prison while she was pregnant with me. Mom wanted a better life for me, my two brothers and two sisters. She worked long hours to support us. But she often fell behind on rent and then we'd have to move. Trouble really started when we moved next door to a man named J. R. Mom trusted him to care us while she was at work, and he did. What Mom didn't know was that J.R. and his friends were thieves.

My older brother Moses and I served as look-outs(放哨人).We knew it was wrong, but the money was too good- $ 100 a night. We broke it into smaller bills, and regularly slipped some into Mom's purse. Then Moses discovered we could bring in even more cash by stealing cars. We practiced giving the same smile, hug and kiss for my mom when we came home, no matter what we'd done on the streets.

Now, though, I was about to get caught. The police got closer. I turned into a back alley. Suddenly, up ahead, a car backed out of a driveway. I saw a little old lady sitting in the driver's seat. But it, was too late. I stopped and jumped out to see if the old lady was damaged. The woman, Evelyn Johnson, looked angry, but unhurt. “Go sit in my house right now,” she said. It was the tone of voice that no kid can disobey. The police arrived and began to question the old woman.

“The man who did this ran that way,” she said, pointing down the alley.

2 . Ross Salvo, a 12-year-old boy from Newtown, CT, was very special, in the way he lived, served, cared about others and overcame challenges.

Born with serious health issues, Ross survived his first days of life, but the health problems continued. Shortly after birth, Ross had a brain injury. By the time Ross was two months old, he had already had one heart surgery and three brain surgeries. Despite many challenges, Ross made it through those early days. As one doctor said, “There is no reason for him to be alive right now, but he is still alive!”

But none of these stopped Ross from becoming the best version of himself and making a big impact on the people around him. The key was his amazing attitude, faith and spirit. His family never said “things Ross wanted to do”.

Ross wanted to be like everyone else. Where others saw differences ,he saw things they had in common. As he once said to a kid who was mean to him, “So I have crutches (拐杖). What’s the difference?” His family said he did not have a disability, but “different” ability.

Ross was willing to try anything! And he did! He played soccer and basketball. He was an active member the youth group at St. Rose of Lima church. He enjoyed serving others. His parents were both Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Ross trained to an EMT and helped his parents train others in CPR as a volunteer training assistant. Ross was also a great friend to many, genuinely cared about others and always tried to spread his great attitude to those around him. When people were struggling, he would encourage them.

Ross’s teacher, Amy, said, “Ross had his challenges, but he never complained whenever there were difficulties. I am a better teacher because I had the privilege (优惠待遇) of having him teach me.”

3 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Henry once worked in a middle school in a remote area. He loved to teach the teenagers. He worked to understand what his students were thinking and feeling in order to meet their needs. When a student was struggling, he would work harder to show the child that he or she was capable and cared for. He would try everything in order to help every student achieve success in and out of the classroom. But he would never discover that the impact his small act of kindness had on one student after he left the profession to join the navy,

Henry was teaching science then, there was one girl who sat at the front of the class and was filled with typical middle school pain and anxiety. Her name was Mary. She was a newcomer then. She wasn't accepted by the classmates that soon. She was quiet and kept to herself and always writing a journal during lessons. Henry was looking for a chance to give her a hand but had realized this task was tough.

That class Henry decided to look over her shoulder and see what she was writing. On a small piece of paper he   saw the painful words “I am not good enough. I'm ugly. I’m stupid. No one likes me. I hate myself.” The girl was absorbed in her loneliness and sadness and didn't realize she was overseers.

This task was more challenging because he had never seen a young girl was so disappointed and sad. Great teachers knew that putting extra effort, a kind heart and soul into caring for his students made all the difference. Without thinking, Henry snatched (一把抓起) the notebook from her and started writing in it “You're great, you're beautiful, you're intelligent, you're loved”. The opposite of everything she wrote, then handed it back. He smiled at her with encouragement saying nothing.

Mary was surprised at her teacher's behavior. But when she read the words he wrote, tears welled down her face.
