1 . Sitting at a table in my school canteen, I looked around, slowly taking in everything. For the first time in my life, I realized I had been seeing without really seeing for the past two years.

Students after students ________ my table carrying a tray with that day's lunch special, but if you looked deeper, there was more to ________. There was more than just the ________ they were wearing, or the way they had ________ their hair. It suddenly hit me that I simply had no ________ about what was hidden under the ________.

Catching the eye of a girl sitting at a nearby ________, I waved politely. She smiled ________ and then continued to pick at the pasta. So, what if that girl or boy, you ________ yesterday was secretly battling a disease or ________ someone they loved? Just ________ a moment to see others and the world around you each day. No one is perfect—we just need to accept each other the way we are.

3 . Everybody has had at least one experience from which he knows the meaning of life. This time took place several years ago, but seems as if it just happened.

On an afternoon several years ago, my brother-in-law opened the bottom drawer of my sister's dress and picked out a beautiful skirt. “Jane bought this the first lime we went to New York, at least 8 or 9 years ago. She never wore it. She was saving it for a special occasion.” He said. I guess this was the occasion: it was the funeral of my sister, after her unexpected death.

He took the skirl and put it on bed, with the other clothes we were taking to the funeral. Then he closed the drawer and turned to me, “Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Every day you are alive is a special occasion.”

I am thinking about his words, and they've changed the way I live my life. I'm spending more time with my family and friends and less lime in committee meetings. Whenever possible, life should be a kind of experience to enjoy, not to suffer. “Someday” and “One of these days” are losing their importance on my vocabulary. If it's worth seeing or hearing or doing, I want to see and hear and do it now.

Ever since that day, I have been trying very hard not to put off, hold back or save anything that, would add laughter and color to our lives. Every morning when I open my eyes, I tell myself that every day, every minute, every breath, truly is a gift. So cherish every day and find the true meaning of your life.

4 . It's a memorable period when I lost a long time job. It happened in 2004, when our company announced the job _________, facing the global economic crisis. We all _________ the insurance company we worked for was not as _________ as it used to be. Then, one day, I entered my office and was _________ I got fired.

During that week, I did almost nothing to change my situation, _________ renewing my old contacts with writers that I built when I worked as an experienced _________ many years ago. Beyond this, I remained a _________ unemployed loser. Soon enough, I received an order from a writer. Then I was _________ by a few more people who needed my services, and gradually my reputation recovered.

5 . It is dark now when I begin my early morning walk in the woods. And now that autumn has marched into winter, darkness persists well beyond my 6 a. m. start time.

Paths have become familiar after years of hiking. But rocks and tree roots have magically appeared from previously ________ ground.

Certainly I hit my toe against or ________ on some unseen barriers. Fallen branches from last night’s storm ________ in wait. Layers of autumn leaves create a false floor through which my trusting footsteps ________. Sometimes a piece of moon donates some ________ to the mystery path. But when skies are dark, there are no ________ clues for where I step.

My very first night hike was during summer camp on a warm August night in the woods. Our leader ________ bright flashlights so we would not scare away the night creatures we hoped to find.

7 . Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic (全景的) view of the blue sea, white building and green olive trees, I paused to ach my breath and then positioned myself to take the best photo of this panorama.

Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view. Like me, this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view. Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take, I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape? Sure, I could have asked her, but something prevented me from doing so. She seemed so content in her observation. I didn’t want to mess with that.

Another 15 minutes passed and I grew bored. The woman was still there. I decided to take the photo anyway.   And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.

This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined” it, now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured (捕捉) and frozen on some stranger’s bedroom wall? A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized (使永存). In some ways, she lives in my house.

Perhaps we all live in each other’s space. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.

That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.

8 . My daughter is only two years old and, like most girls, already has a nurturing（培育）spirit growing inside her. She tries to ________ everything that she has. She already has favorite suits, favorite toys, and even a favorite blanket.

This blanket is a pink one that was purchased for her before she was born. It seems to be the one she ________ the closest. I always see her dragging that blanket around from upstairs to downstairs, downstairs to upstairs. She sits and eats with it, tries to brush her teeth with it, and ________ jumps right out of the bath to run to it. Although it gets ________ many times in the course of a week, it is almost always ________.

Last Sunday morning, I planned to have a long sleep, but my mother woke me up in a loud voice, “Time to get up, sweetheart.” It is just 8:30 in the morning, but I replied, “It’s still early, Mum; I want to sleep again.” However, no sooner have I continued my sleep than my mother pulled me out of bed. When my parents and I started out for our home in the countryside, the weather was fine and I was cheerfully. Upon arriving at their farmland, we began to work in the field. In the beginning, my mother taught me how to grow vegetables and it took me some minute to learn to take the care of them. After that, I was asked to turn over the soil with a digger and I soon ran out my energy. Although doing farm work was tired, I had a really great day. Now I realize it is of great important to do farm work even for us Senior 3 students, because we should have some labor education.
