文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章就如何进行庭院旧货出售给出几点建议。

7 . “Yard sale” is appealing to bargain hunters, antique seekers and so on. It may seem simple.     1     Here, what you need to know, do and plan for in order to hold a great event.

Plan in advance. Have you decided you’re going to have a yard sale? Great!     2     In addition to gathering up and assessing your things, placing signs around the neighborhood, you also need to find out whether your city requires a permit and whether your other neighborhood organization has rules about yard sales.

Get help. You probably don’t want to do this all alone since your attention will be spread pretty thin during busy sale periods. Ask a couple of friends, neighbors or family members to help you out with set-up, running the register or clean-up -or better yet, to add their own things to the sale.     3    .

4    If you’re going to the trouble of attempting to sell your stuff, make it look attractive so it actually sells well. Wipe down appliances, wash, iron and hang clothing, and lay everything out nice and neat on clean tables and shelves, not in piles.

Be safe.     5     Do not let people enter your house to try on clothes or use the bathroom, and keep your doors locked. Don’t take personal checks from strangers, and rather than a cash box anybody could grab, keep earnings on your person in a fanny-pack-type device or safely in your pocket. Take periodic trips inside to put the cash.

A.Make it look appealing.
B.Put your stuff on the table individually.
C.The following tips can give you a hand.
D.Now give yourself at least one month to pull it together.
E.Multi-family or neighborhood-wide sales draw more buyers.
F.But a yard sale does require some knowledge and effort to be a success.
G.Remember, there are some strangers simply coming over to browse your goods.

8 . Tips to Start Doing Things That You Do Not Like To Do

Even though it is there on our to-do list, we give it less priority (优先权) because we dislike doing it.     1     On the other side, if you put effort into doing difficult things or those things you do hate to do, you will be able to do harder tasks with confidence later in life. Here are some good-to –know tips that will encourage you to start doing things that you do not like to do:

Stop hating the task.     2     To become a confident and better person, you should start loving to do difficult things, especially the ones you do not like to do.

Look at the bigger picture. If you meet a difficult task, instead of shying away from it, take some time and think about it. What is the major reason behind doing this task?     3     you need to look at the bigger picture instead of just thinking about the task.

Overcome your fear. One thing that stops you from carrying out the task is fear. You may develop a fear, thinking that the task is very difficult or you are not comfortable when doing it. You can never overcome fear by running away from it.     4     Why not face it now and become braver?

5    . If you think you have enough time on your side, you may not put enough effort into carrying out the task. So, if you limit yourself to carry out a certain task in a set period, you will not waste time but make the best use of it and accomplish the task.

A.Do not think about the failure.
B.Set a time period to complete it.
C.Sooner or later you have to face it.
D.What will happen if you complete the task?
E.Life would be boring without difficult situations.
F.Successful people do things they do not like to do, too.
G.Instead of giving it a try, we may stay away from it completely.

9 . “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade (柠檬水).” It is a good saying, but life throws at us more serious problems than lemons, doesn’t it? What do we do when we lose a family member? What do we do when we have been through events that leave us feelings? Can any failure be turned into success?

Most of us realize we can learn one or two things from failure. When we fail, we think, “Well, I won’t try that again! ”or “I won’t trust anyone again! ”But this is not useful learning. It is suggested that we ask challenging questions. For example, “How could I try that again?” There are a lot we can learn and get from failure if we keep asking good questions on how to do better next time.

Failure or pain can be good for developing our character if we choose to face it in a positive way. Our own suffering often makes us understand others better. It can give us wisdom or knowledge to share with others, which can prevent them from similar failure. If we have been hurt by others because of another person’s poor character, it may improve us to be better persons.

Failures can make us experience many things that we didn’t experience before. If you lose your job, it doesn’t mean you lose everything and probably you may get more. As we know, no job often leads to self employment; no job has been the beginning of many highly successful businesses. It is common that we don’t like changing, but change, even unfortunate change, brings new opportunities. Sometimes only failure brings us better opportunities or greater success.
