The idea of spending a year in a hot, beautiful country is an attractive option for any 20 - year - old university student, and numbers of students now take a year out to study or work abroad. Two years ago, I joined them.
My reality was long days teaching in Spain for less than one euro an hour. Despite my best efforts, I barely spoke Spanish and made just one friend, I couldn't wait for it to end and after nine long months, I boarded the plane home crying tears of happiness.
However, it has taken me a while to realize that I wouldn't have it any other way. I wouldn't do it all over again, but I certainly wouldn't change it. It was tough, but it was totally worthy.
I had to grow up and learn how to rely on myself. I learned that things don't always go the way you expect or want. I had time to think about what T was doing with my life and what I wanted to get out of my degree.
For many others, too, a terrible year abroad can turn into a positive, character - building experience. I'm not saying that if you have a great year then you don't Learn anything, I’m still jealous of all the adventures and travelling my friends talk about: But a disastrous year abroad gave me the boost I needed to stop taking the opportunities I have for granted.
I spent a long time feeling like I'd wasted what was supposed to be one of the best years of my life, until I realized that was only because I was comparing it with other people's experiences. That year was the best thing that could have: happened to me. So if you've recently started your year abroad, remember to take it as it comes - appreciate the. experience you're having, without comparing it with everyone else's.

Wake up early
By waking up even just fifteen minutes earlier, you’ll give yourself a bit more time to prepare yourself for the day ahead.
Exercising your muscles first in the morning will restart your system and set the tone for the rest of the day. You’ll do something healthy and productive, which will lift your mood(心情)and make you more energetic. Morning exercise can also prevent muscle pain, help you sleep sounder and lose weight.
Write a to-do list
If you have a lot on your mind, writing a to-do list will help, as it will enable you to organize your thoughts and clear your head. Just write down everything that you’re worried about getting done. Then rewrite it in order of importance.

8 . “Tell her,” I whispered to my daughter as she pressed her body against mine. She folded my free arm around her little shoulders while I finished loading the groceries onto the conveyer belt.
I smiled at the young cashier who had a butterfly knot tied to her black ponytail(马尾辫). My daughter was right when she'd whispered to me, “Her hair is so pretty.”
“Tell her,” I repeated with a gentle push. My girl only dug her pink cheeks deeper into my side as she nervously twisted the edge of my sleeve in her small fist.
The cashier looked down at my daughter, her expression showing a little concern. “My daughter thinks your hair is beautiful.” I explained.
The cashier's face lit up. “You do?” This led my little one out of her hiding place. She looked up and nodded.
“Thank you so much! You made my day,” the cashier said with a smile brilliant enough to compete with her highlights. My daughter returned it with a shining smile of her own.
As I walked out of the store, holding my daughter's hand, I stole a glance back at the young woman. Her energy was clearly brighter now than it had: been when we first entered her line.
After loading my groceries in the trunk, I climbed into the driver's seat. It was then that my daughter made a declaration, “Mom, I think I'm going to start telling everyone when I like their hair.” “You should, honey.” And she did. She still does.
It's a rare occasion if we make a trip out in public without her telling someone that she loves their hair, or nails, or shirt, or shoes. To be honest, I think she even does so more than me. And it's one of my favorite things about this girl. She learned, at a very young age, that by simply telling people when you see beauty in them, you can draw out the beauty of human connection.
