7 . On Tuesday night, Jasmine found her list of things to do, which was supposed to be under her pillow. The first thing on the list was to do her homework. However, she did not have time for that. She needed to prepare for the trip that their parents had planned for that weekend instead. That list was prepared by Clyde, her elder brother. After she had packed all the items on the list, she quickly fell asleep.
The next morning, Clyde and Jasmine boarded the school bus as usual. They sat together at the back of the bus. When the bus arrived at school, everyone got off the bus, except for Jasmine. She remembered her incomplete homework and feared the thought of being scolded by her teacher, Mrs. Geller. Jasmine was absorbed in her thoughts.
Mr. Patterson did not bother checking if there were any students left on the bus. He drove the bus to the parking lots, got off the bus and walked towards the school building.
Clyde walked through the main entrance and realized that his sister was nowhere in sight. “Where’s Jasmine?” he thought. Clyde turned around and decided to find his missing sister. “Clyde. I’m not looking forward to going to class, and it’s your fault. I didn’t do my homework last night because you didn’t help me pack for our trip, ” Jasmine muttered.
“What do you mean? Didn’t you have time to do it after packing? I think you should own up to Mrs Geller and take responsibility for your own actions,” Clyde advised.

8 . My Favorite Money Saving Tips
One of the things that many folks want to do is better money habits. I’m pretty good about my saving, and fairly responsible in my spending. So as many of you all probably want to “save more money” or “spend less money”, I wanted to share my saving tips with you.
Manage your debt.
Spend your cash. Seems crazy but it’s true! This is especially helpful to those who tend to be impulsive (冲动的) shoppers. Figure out your monthly budget, and divide it by 4. Add this amount to your wallet each week and only spend the cash.
Keep your extra cash in a high yield savings account. Though it’s rare to find a bank that provides a large interest rate on savings, right now you can get 0.5% and 0.1 to 0.25% on checking.
A.Get an emergency fund. |
B.Avoid unnecessary expenses. |
C.Don’t touch the credit cards. |
D.You must make this a priority. |
E.But remember to check it from time to time. |
F.It’s a great way to add a little extra income to your money. |
G.This amount should be kept in your high-yield savings account. |
I had tried unsuccessfully to get Frank to the dentist for a good clean. He felt that cleaning his teeth didn’t matter. Only after suffering for several days with a toothache did he finally agree, but under one condition. The dentist would have to treat him in his wheelchair. I called Dr. Bob, who was willing to satisfy my husband’s special needs.
The big day arrived. It was a hot day in June. The office was easy to locate, but parking was very limited. We decided to take our chances and parked across the street at a place with a “No Parking or Towing (拖)” sign. After parking, we walked two blocks to the office. As Dr. Bob had promised, Frank didn’t have to leave his wheelchair and after a few shots, the teeth were painlessly removed. Then we prepared to leave.
Frank uses an electric wheelchair with a breathing control system. He drives the chair by breathing through an air tube. Breathe in to go backward. Breathe out to go forward. His mouth was still too numb to control the wheelchair. Not a problem. I could drive for him.
Once outside, the chair was not responding properly. I had to push with both hands on the handlebars. I pushed the wheelchair with all my strength. The sunny day turned extremely hot with no shade between us and the car.
Exhausted, I stopped pushing. “I have to stop and rest,” I told Frank. Frank had a brilliant idea. His mouth was too numb to breathe out, but he might be able to breathe in, which would move the wheelchair backward. I agreed without hesitation.
We continued moving backward slowly up the sidewalk as I turned my head from left to right looking behind me for obstacles in our path. I noticed several cars slowing down and the people in the cars looking in our direction as they passed. Only when two ladies stopped and asked if we needed help did I realize how silly we looked.
