文章大意:本文为一篇记叙文,讲述了物理老师Erukhimova在网络上通过视频来传播物理知识,让学生们对物理感兴趣的事迹。

1 . Out of all fields of science, physics has a reputation for being difficult to the general public. On top of complex formulas (公式), the abstract concepts that make it up are sometimes simply hard to grasp. That’s why professor Tatiana Erukhimova works alongside the team of the Physics & Astronomy department at Texas A & M University (TAMU) to produce a series of videos showing real-world applications of physics in a fun and insightful way that has earned her fans around the world.

Not only are the explanations in every video easy to follow, but Erukhimova’s enthusiasm is what truly keeps the viewer engaged. For example, in one video, the cheerful professor explains the physics of pressure. To demonstrate how distributing weight allows seemingly fragile objects to carry heavier loads, the teacher excitedly steps on a tiny board with lightbulbs and then proceeds to replicate (复制) the experiment with eggs—until it takes an unexpected turn.

Erukhimova’s unique teaching method comes from her hope to get students interested through demonstrative classes. “You get this ‘wow factor’ and then it’s easier to find resonance (共鸣).” she said. “I like what I teach, and I try to share my excitement with them.”

Born to physicist parents, Erukhimova has had a unique attachment to the field since she was very little. “My passion for physics is just in my genes, and I cannot imagine my life without physics,” she explained. After being offered a position at Texas A & M almost 25 years ago, Erukhimova moved from Russia to Texas. Since then, she has won over both university students and casual viewers with her particular way of explaining science.

While she is aware that people may not learn a lot from watching a short video, getting them interested and curious about learning more is all worth it.

1. Why does physics seem difficult to the general public?
A.It has many formulas.B.It’s boring and useless.
C.Its concepts are abstract.D.Access to educational resources is limited.
2. What makes Erukhimova’s videos popular?
A.Her family background.B.Her respect for her students.
C.Her vivid language and personality.D.Her enthusiasm and teaching method.
3. What does Erukhimova hope to achieve through her demonstrative classes?
A.Winning over casual viewers and fans.
B.Getting students interested in physics.
C.Sharing her excitement about physics.
D.Improving students’ academic performance.
4. What can be learned about Erukhimova?
A.She has many hobbies.B.She is a famous scientist.
C.She is devoted to her job.D.She earns a very high salary.

My Best Teaching Experience

Tyler was only in my senior class for a semester. He had been suspended (使停学) many times in previous years because of his anger issues. When he entered my class, I thought the worst.

Tyler sat in the back row. Every time I talked to the class, I would ask students questions, calling them by name. Unfortunately, every time I called on Tyler, he would respond with a joke. If he got an answer wrong, he would become angry.

About a month into the year, I was still trying to connect with Tyler. I can usually get students involved in class discussions or at least have them sit quietly and attentively (专心地). By contrast, Tyler was often loud and sometimes rude.

He had been in so much trouble over the years. He expected his teachers to know about his past; about how many times he had been sent to the office or suspended from school. I had found that these sorts of referrals (移交) were not very effective and that students would return from the office behaving worse than before.

One day, Tyler was talking over me while I was teaching. I stopped my lesson and said, “Tyler, why don’t you join in our discussion instead of having one of your own?” With that, he got up from his chair, pushed it over and yelled something. I can’t remember what he said other than that he included some impolite words. I sent Tyler straight to the office, and he received a week’s suspension.

To this point, this was one of my worst teaching experiences. Tyler’s anger was almost too much for me. The week Tyler was suspended from school was a wonderful time, and we got a lot accomplished as a class. However, the suspension week would soon come to an end, and I was fearful of his return.

3 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Daniel was the new boy in our school. The teacher assigned (安排) me to him. He couldn’t hear or talk. So he had an adult with him. She explained what professors were teaching in sign language (手语). Sometimes I got caught staring at him and my friends teased (嘲笑) me all day. I noticed him going everywhere all alone with no friends at all. Sometimes I felt worried, maybe even concerned.

We were assigned as lab partners and surprisingly he wasn’t as bad as I thought. We would both sit quietly and do our work. But when it came to communication and his translator wasn’t there.it was a mess. At first, I could barely understand what he was doing with his hands. I could see in his eyes that he was getting annoyed at me. From trying to communicate with sign language he moved to pictures and words. That worked well for both of us, but my drawing skills were not as good as his, so I stuck towards and gestures.

The second semester went by well and quickly. Daniel and I understood each other pretty well. I could understand some of his hand movements. I realized that Daniel was different from anyone. I’d ever met me included. When he saw that people couldn’t understand him, he came up with another way of communicating. His artistic (艺术的) ability was matchless (无敌的). Then he became my best friend and we both understood each other pretty well despite our differences. During the winter break. I tried to get Daniel to play some games with me and. to my surprise he was better than I expected (期待). I also learnt a lot from him.

注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式作答。

I decided to learn sign language secretly (秘密地) and planned to give Daniel a surprise.

文章大意:这是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了Paul Durietz是一位来自伊利诺伊州的76岁的社会研究教师。2023年9月1日,他创造了世界上最长的教学生涯的吉尼斯世界纪录。

6 . Paul Durietz is a 76-year-old social studies teacher from Illinois. On September 1, he set a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest teaching career. Mr. Durietz has been teaching for 53 years—since he was 23 years old.

Mr. Durietz has known since he was young that he wanted to be a social studies teacher. Social studies is the study of history, and how people, countries, and cultures are connected. He became interested in history after hearing stories from his father, who fought in World War II. On his mother’s side of the family, he had connections to a famous person from English history.

Mr. Durietz got his first teaching job at Woodland-Middle School in Gurnee, Illinois in 1970. Ever since then, he’s been teaching social studies at the same school. He says he loves sharing his knowledge of history with students. “Teaching is never boring,” he says. “Every day is different.”

Things have changed a lot since he began all those years ago. When he started, the only way to make copies was with a “ditto machine”, which used a stinky, purple ink. Mr. Durietz wrote on a blackboard with chalk, and the students used paper textbooks. These days, he and the students use computers and digital whiteboards.

Though technology has changed a lot since he began teaching, Mr. Durietz says the students are still pretty much the same— except that now they have cell phones.

With or without technology, Mr. Durietz has used creative activities to help his students learn. For example, he has organized virtual field trips, geography contests, and special days about the US Civil War. He has even organized fake(假的)elections at school to help his students learn about politics. He says these activities are some of the ones that he and his students enjoyed most.

Mr. Durietz says people who want to be teachers should make sure they are patient with their students. He also encourages them to choose subjects that they care deeply about.
