Packing
Pack clothes that can dress up or dress down. Also, very important: make sure you bring good shoes for your destination.
Diary
Your vacation is going to the filled with amazing experiences that will be so vivid at the time, but will slowly disappear after you return home. Try to keep a diary at regular intervals to think back your experiences. This is the best gift you can give yourself.

You can prevent stomach flu by washing your hands often. Use hot water and soap, and spend time scrubbing (擦洗). Using hand sanitizer (消毒杀菌剂) is better than nothing, but it doesn’t work well against stomach flu.
The virus (病毒) that causes stomach flu is hard to kill. Normal cleaners won’t always get rid of it. But cleaning your house can stop you from catching it. So mix bleach (漂白剂) with water, and use that to clean surfaces.

Because the wrong kind of travel badly influences the world. One of the reasons we started this blog was to help others travel better and feel comfortable getting off the beaten path (常规路), communicating with locals, and take you “Beyond the traditional Bucket”, if you will.
People who only get 2-weeks off per year are often just looking for an easy destination with a beach to relax on. This isn’t travel. This is a vacation. But “immersive Travel” or "Cultural Travel" is an entirely new type of trip. It is about experiencing and protecting the various traditions around the world. It’s about being open to new experiences and willing to step into another’s shoes. Cultural travel is jumping in with both feet and leaving your idea about what your trip should be behind you. It’s eating local dishes and sleeping in guesthouses. It’s building genuine connections with locals. It’s learning about the history of a country and leaving your trip with a greater understanding of the place you came to see and the people who live there.
Often times in today’s age, “travelers” will visit a country just to snap some photos of the famous sights to post on Instagram or to drink the night away, or even just to relax on a tropical beach. But that kind of vacation can be harmful to the very communities you’re traveling to.
Beyond supporting the local communities and the protection of local customs and traditions, you’ll also experience some personal benefits through cultural travels. There’s simply no way to travel this way with a closed mind. You’ll get to know different cultures intimately and understand them a lot better. You’ll also become less judgmental (评头论足的) of others the more you travel.
1. What’s the author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph?A.To describe the importance of cultural travel. | B.To stress the harmful influence of travel. |

D.choose a tourist attraction for adventure and exploration. |
A.It is concentrated on studying local people’s lifestyle. |
B.Its major focus is protecting local traditions and customs. |
C.Its travelers should be open-minded and understanding. |
D.It is a specific way to make comments on other cultures. |
A.A travel brochure. | B.A blog post. |
C.A historic magazine. | D.An encyclopedia website. |

Here’s a pick of the best in Beijing!
Mutianyu Great Wall
Your trip to Beijing isn’t really complete without seeing one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World”, the Great Wall of China. The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is by far the most well-preserved of all. Taking a one-hour bus ride, Mutianyu would be your ideal location for a half day of hiking away from the large crowds in the city. Also, the authorities have allowed tourists to paint graffiti on a specific section of the Great Wall since 2014. The Great Wall was designated (把......定名为) a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
Summer Palace
Located in northwestern Beijing, the Summer Palace is by far the city’s most well-preserved royal park. With its huge lake and hilltop views, the palace offers you a pastoral escape into the landscape of traditional Chinese paintings. The Summer Palace was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998.
798 Art Zone
This would be on the top of my list! Named after the 798 factory that was built in the 1950s. The art zone is home to various galleries, design studios, art exhibition spaces, fashionable shops and bars. You could easily spend half your day wandering around the complex, feeling the contrast of the present and the past.
Sichuan Provincial Restaurant

Europe’s most beautiful towns Clovelly, the UK Donkeys (驴) used to be the only way to get up and down the streets of Clovelly, a pretty fishing village in Devon, southwest England. Today, villagers still haven’t managed to bring cars in because it sits at the bottom of a 400-foot cliff (悬崖) .Goods are transported by man-powered vehicles. If tourists can’t face the walk back up to the car park, they can take a ride in a special car instead. Dinkelsbühl, Germany Acute historic center, wood houses and solid towers—Dinkelsbühl has it all. It sits on the German Romantic Road, a route known for its attractive towns. Surrounded by medieval (中世纪的) walls with a huge church, it was the setting for a famous film named The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser. Giethoorn, Netherlands They call it the Dutch answer to Venice, but Giethoorn lacks one thing that the Italian city has: over tourism. As in Venice, life centers around the water. There are no cars in the downtown so the only way to get around is on foot or on the water. Take a boat tour around the houses sitting on islands. Hungry? Stop at the Michelin-starred restaurant Hollands-Venetië. Anghiari, Italy On a hillside, Anghiari is a delight—a tiny walled town. It’s a crowded area with narrow and up-and-down streets, full of grand palaces which were built by the mysterious “men of arms”. Find out more about them at a museum named the Museo della Battaglia di Anghiari, which traces the history of a medieval battle that took place on the plain outside town. |

A technology company announced on Monday that some buses will be using a biofuel that contains coffee oil. The company, Bio-bean, and its partner, Argent Energy, say they have made enough coffee oil to power one of London’s famous double-decker buses for a year. The announcement made Bio-bean a trending story on social media.
The government agency Transport for London has been turning to biofuels to cut production of carbon emissions. A carbon emission is a gas produced by the burning of carbon. The gas is released into the atmosphere. London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, said last month that his city has a “health crisis….caused directly by poor-quality air.” The government has taken steps to discourage people from driving cars that do not meet European Union emissions requirements.
Bio-bean said Londoners produce over 200,000 tons of coffee ground waste a year. The company said it collects waste grounds from chain coffee shops and factories. The grounds are dried and processed to remove the coffee oil.
“It’s a great example of what can be done when we start to re-imagine waste as an untapped resource,” said Bio-bean founder’s Arthur Kay. The coffee fuel technology has been received support from the oil company Royal Dutch Shell.

Although it can be a great tool to keep up with the lives of our friends, families and celebrities, it can also be pretty damaging as we judge our lives in comparison to those we see online.
One woman shared her experience which showed exactly why we shouldn’t believe everything we see on social media. After heading to the pool, Jen watched as a young mum and her daughter entered, dressed in swimming suits. The mum took a few selfies (自拍) with her child. Jen said the young girl then asked if they could get into the pool but was told to wait while her parent took a photo of her in front of the pool.
“Mama glanced over at her but never got off the phone,” Jen wrote. “After 10 minutes mama ended her call, and then they left the pool. I sat there thinking about what I’d witnessed for a while afterwards. I imagined the photos she took being perfectly edited and posted so social media with a caption like ‘Pool time with my girl!’ ”
Jen then thought about another mum at home, in a messy house, tired because she’s spent her day cooking, caring, cleaning and playing with her children. “She’s going to look at that photo and she is going to compare herself to the ‘perfect mama’ at the pool. She’s going to feel like a failure. She’ll never know that how she spent her time that day was so much better in her children’s eyes than that ‘perfect mama’ at the pool.” Jen wrote.
What we see on social media isn’t always real. Sometimes, and often, it’s a complete set-up. Jen later added that she in no way intended to judge the mum for her actions or her reasons for doing it, but simply wanted to say that the edited photos we see on social media “are not a full depiction of real life”.
1. What can we learn about the young mum at the pool?A.She was very familiar with Jen. |

D.She was accompanying her daughter attentively. |
A.She does a good job as a mum. |
