How to Hygge for the Holiday

Everyone is talking about “hygge” — the word used by Danish people to keep themselves mentally positive in the dark winter season and fill their homes with comfort and love. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? But how to realize at least some of hygge holidays?

Express your creativity. Take a step back from the pressures of everyday life and let your creative side out to play. Set aside paint, paper and an hour to yourself.     1

Share good food with good friends. Friends and food are some of life’s simplest pleasures.     2     Invite friends round for coffee and cake away from the noisy distraction of a cafe, so you can really enjoy each other’s company.

3     Empty your mind of thoughts and worries, and you can enjoy a little quiet time to yourself now and then. Choose one comfortable corner as a private place that you can hide in whenever you need to take time out and relax.

Make simple things special.       4     If you take to watching a film on Friday night, make movie night feel like a treat rather than routine, with your favourite snacks, good-smelling candles, and a comfortable sofa to throw yourself into.

It is possible to achieve hygge any time of the year nowadays.     5     But hygge is the most suitable for the winter holiday season because it is all about peaceful and warm surroundings that fill you with content. There is indeed something you can do to bring holiday hygge into your home this season.

A.Set a far-reaching goal.
B.Spend some “me time” occasionally.
C.Combining the two helps get the hygge feeling.
D.This way you can have hygge by expressing your talent out.
E.Here are some words for hygge: comfort, friends and laughter.
F.Hygge is all about letting your senses enjoy everyday moments.
G.A volleyball match on the sandy beach is a good example of summertime hygge.

【推荐1】By deciding to lead a healthy life, you are deciding to take full control of your own habits.     1    . But how can you make it? Here are some tips for you.

Cook at home. Cooking at home is cheaper and healthier than eating out, so teach yourself to cook the things you love, and keep a well-stocked fridge.

2    . Plan out your meals for the week, and go to the grocery store with a list. Start in the produce items, and skip the chips and snack items. Cook food you like, or you won’t want to eat it.

Develop active habits.     3    , build more activities into your daily routine. Take up gardening or another active hobby. Get a dog so that you remember to go on walks. Cut your commute (通勤) and walk part of the way to work, or get in the habit of patronizing nearby businesses so you can walk there and back. This way, you can build a new exercise habit that can help you lead a healthier life.

Socialize. Having a healthy social network is good for your longevity, your recovery from illnesses you contract, and your mental stability. See friends regularly. Keep in touch with family. To expand your social contacts, join an organization.     4

Build happiness and self-acceptance. There is a strong link between happiness and health, so try to get in the habit of treating yourself lovingly. Speak to yourself the way you would speak to a dear friend. When you start having negative thoughts, pause, and identify the thought that is making you feel bad.     5    . 【推荐2】Let’s be frank. A CV (个人简历) is a highly professional business document and it is NO place to talk about your hobbies or your personal interests... right?

Well, not exactly.

Employers love knowing about the applicant’s hobbies and interests. Here is why:

Prospective employers invest in people; they hire and work with human beings, not robots. It is because of this that employers look for every clue in their prospective employees to find out about their true skills and competencies. What better way is there to achieve this than by looking at their hobbies and interests?

Benefits of including your hobbies and interests on your CV:

It will give the recruiter (招聘人员) a fuller and more complete picture of you.

Sporting interests indicate that you are fit and healthy.

Involvement in the community indicates good interpersonal skills.

Outside interests tell the employer that you can have a good time as well.

They form a great basis for discussion at the interview stage.

Examples of hobbies and what they say about YOU:

Computing: Good with technology.

Swimming: Keeps fit and healthy.

Puzzles: Excellent problem-solving skills.

Football/Soccer: Teamwork skills.

Chess: Intelligent, strategist.

Socializing with friends: Team player (rather than longer).

Possible pitfalls to avoid when writing your hobbies on your CV:

Avoid mentioning risky or time-consuming hobbies: It is in the employer's best interest to have you healthy, fit and able to work; therefore, we advise against writing regular rock climbing in the Himalayas as a hobby.

Irrelevant hobbies: How will “stamp and coin collecting” as a hobby help you to get a job as an Administrative Engineering Manager? On the other hand, stamp collecting would be a very valuable hobby to mention when applying for a job as a Stamp Appraiser (鉴定人).

Including too many hobbies: Usually, if you include more than just two or three hobbies on your CV, the employer is likely to wonder when this person will have any time to do some work?!

Lying: Having seen a TV program once (when you were twelve!) doesn't count as a hobby. You will be asked carefully about your hobbies and interests at the interview stage. Save yourself the embarrassment and do not lie about your hobbies.

【推荐3】We are here to share these essay writing suggestions in case you wish to write an essay for your own benefit. Writing your own statement of personal belief can be a powerful tool for self-reflection. It can also be a wonderful thing to share with family, friends, and colleagues.    1    .

Be distinctive.

Take your belief out of the events that have shaped your core values. Consider moments when belief was formed or tested or changed.    2    . Your story need not be heart-warming or anxious — it can even be funny — but it should be specific to you. Make sure your story is tied to the essence of your daily life philosophy and the shaping of your belief.

Be brief.

3    .That’s about three minutes when you read aloud at your natural pace. So consider focusing on the core belief. In addition, write about what you do believe, and not what you don’t believe. Remember to avoid statements about religious beliefs.

    4    .

Make your essay about yourself; speak in the first person. Avoid speaking in "we". Tell your personal belief; this is not an opinion about social ideals.    5    We recommend you read your essay aloud to yourself several times, and each time edit it and improve it until you find the words, tone, and story that truly arouse your feelings, which can attract others then.

Keeping the above in heart and putting them into action, you will realize writing an essay just seems like an easy task.

A.Be personal
B.Be appealing
C.Your statement should be between 500 and 600 words
D.It’s important to know how to tell a story about yourself
E.Write in words and phrases that are comfortable for you to speak
F.Think of your own life, and tell the things you know that no one else does
