Step 1: Start and Complete the Common Application Online

The Common Application is required for students applying to any or all of   NYU’s three degree-granting campuses in Shanghai, New York, or Abu Dhabi.   You’ll be able to choose your campus(s)and program(s) of interest on the NYU Questions page of the Common Application. If NYU Shanghai is your first choice, select Shanghai as your Primary campus of interest. If Shanghai is your second or third choice, please select it as an alternate campus of interest.

You’ll need:

Contact information for the counselor or other school representative who will complete your Common Application School Report and submit your official high school transcript.

Contact information for one teacher (or two, maximum) who will complete the Teacher Evaluation form.

SAT, SAT Subject, ACT, and AP scores must be final at the time of application. For other examinations, like IB or A-Levels, predicted results may be submitted at the time of application by a school official if final results are not yet available. Students who submit predicted results will need to submit final scores as soon as not they become available. Include an official English Elation if the document isn’t in English. A school official or a translation agency accredited in the country of the educational institution can issue the translation. NYU will only make exceptions for documents in Mandarin Chinese submitted to NYU Shanghai.

Transcripts and test scores must come from an official source to be processed.

The most important of them was to shift the priority of the nation to economic development, which has since become the central task of CPC organizations and governments at all levels. 【推荐1】Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde has spent much of his time seeking artistic solutions(解决方案)to solve our environmental problems. To deal with the problem, Roosegaarde intends to achieve his goal by educating the public about the need of the situation and coming up with possible solutions. The plan. called the Space Waste Lab. started in October 2018 with a laser(激光)show in the Netherlands. The unique outdoor artwork of LEDs used real-time tracking information to point at pieces of space junk floating at altitudes of 200 to 20,000 kilometers. The experience was designed to make the public know more about how much space junk there are.

To find a solution, the designer has been thinking with experts. One of the projects being considered is "Shooting Stars"，which attempts to reintroduce the trash to the atmosphere in a controlled way. In September 2018。the RemoveDEBRIS satellite successfully sent a net to catch a target while orbiting at an altitude of about 300 kilometers(190 miles). At the end of its task，RemoveDEBRIS will let go a sail to bring the satellite itself and hopefully some trash, back into the atmosphere where it will burn up.

It’s a question puzzling biologists for years. But according to Science Daily, a US research group may have finally answered it—the secret lies in a protein called FKF1. This allows plants to sense the differences in day lengths so that they can tell the seasons are changing.

Researchers found the protein when they were studying a plant called Arabidopsis. They found it’s a photoreceptor (感光器). This means it’ s sensitive to, and can be activated (激活) by sunlight.

Plants produce the protein every day in the late afternoon throughout the year. If there’s no light at this time, for example, in winter when the sun goes down early, it may not be activated. But when spring comes and the days get longer, it can be activated by daylight and the plants “know” it’s time to flower.

Although researchers have only studied how the FKFI protein works in the Arabidopsis, they believe that the process is similar in many other more complex (复杂) plants, including crops like rice and wheat. This could be useful to the agricultural industry.

“If we can control the timing of flowering, we might be able to produce more crops by putting it forward or putting it off,” a leader of the study said. “Also, if we could control the timing of flowering in horticultural (园艺的) plants, they may be worth more money.”

The health of the famous picture, painted by Leonardo Da Vinci in 1505, is getting worse by the year, according to the Louvre Museum(卢浮宫博物馆) where it is housed.

“The thin, wooden panel on which the Mona Lisa is painted in oil has changed shape since experts checked it two years ago,” the museum said. Visitors have noticed changes but repairing the world’s most famous painting is not easy. Experts are not sure about the materials the Italian artist used and their current chemical state(化学状态).

Nearly 6 million people go to see the Mona Lisa every year, many attracted by the mystery of her smile. “It is very interesting that when you’re not looking at her, she seems to be smiling, and then you look at her and she stops,” said Professor Margaret Livingstone of Harvard University. “It’s because direct vision (视觉) is excellent at picking up detail, but less suited to looking at shadows. Da Vinci painted the smile in shadows.”[

However, the actual history of the Mona Lisa is just as mysterious as the smile. Da Vinci himself loved it so much that he always carried it with him, until it was eventually sold to France’s King Francis I in 1519.

In 1911, the painting was stolen from the Louvre by a former employee, who took it out of the museum hidden under his coat. He said he planned to return it to Italy. The painting was sent back to France two years later.

During World War II, French hid the painting in small towns to keep it out of the hands of German forces.
