Traveling to work by car gets more expensive today. People can do nothing about the world’s price of petrol (汽油). They have to work hard so that they can pay for petrol. However, some people are trying to stop driving to work. People have found out that it is a good idea to ride a bike to work. More and more people return to bikes.

Children often go to school by bike. But now businessmen are going to work by bike too. “The bike is easy to use,” says Molly, “and it is also very cheap. It is a good way for those who do business like me. You can buy 30 bikes at the price of a small car. A bike doesn’t use expensive petrol. A 10-year-old child can learn to use a bike. And most bikes can be used for a long time.”

Mr. Brown goes to his hospital by bike every day. He says, “A bike doesn’t cost a lot of money, and most families can have two or more. Bike- riding is good for our health. Today most people get fat because they don’t get enough exercise. So I tell people to buy bikes. What’s more, in big cities it’s usually quicker to travel by bike than by bus or by car. Drivers can’t do anything but get angry when there is a traffic jam (交通堵塞).”

April 22 is Earth Day. Everyone on Earth should care about and protect the earth!

The earth has warmed by about 1°F (华氏度) over the past 100 years, but why and how? Well, scientists are not quite sure. Maybe the earth gets warmer and warmer on its own. But many scientists say that people are doing many things which makes the earth warmer. First, greenhouse effect (温室效应) is a very important reason for the change of the earth. People give out too much energy into the air every year. It makes the earth warmer. Climate (气候) change is another important reason. Sometimes it becomes too hot and sometimes too cold. Sometimes there is too much rain and sometimes too little. The change of the climate makes the earth warmer. In turn, the warmth of the earth changes the climate, too.

When the earth becomes warmer, there may be more rain and a rise in sea level. It will affect the growth of plants, animals and people. On a Pacific island, 100 people have to move to higher ground because the sea is rising. These people can no longer live on the coast. Before that, two islands without people went underwater in 1999. Scientists say that the seas can rise by nearly one meter by 2100.                    

People can affect the earth's air, land and water. As for us, we can do many things to protect the earth. For example, we can use fridges less. We can tell more people about protecting the earth.

Mrs.White has a son. His name is Sam. The young man begins to work in a post office in a big city this autumn. He asks his mother to visit the city. The old woman is happy and catches a train. Soon she gets to the city, but she doesn't know where the post office is. She begins to look for it. At a bus stop she asks an old man,“Excuse me, sir. How can I get to the post office, please?”

“We have about forty post offices in our city,” says the old man,“Which one do you want?”

The old woman gives Sam's address to him and the old man says, “Walk along this street and take the fourth turning on the left. His post office is just there.”

Mrs.White thanks the old man and soon finds her son.They're very happy. A week later the old woman goes to the zoo. She sees all kinds of animals. But after that she can't find the way again. At the same bus stop she meets the same old man and she asks the same question again.

“Oh dear! ” the old man calls out.“Are you still looking for your son?”

Since the outbreak of novel coronavirus (新型冠状病毒的爆发) in Wuhan in December 2019, the Chinese government has closed down the city to stop the spread of     41     disease (阻止疾病传播).

On New Year’s Eve, many doctors     42     nurses were still working hard without resting, fighting the novel coronavirus. When the winter holiday     43     (come) to an end, we didn’t go back to school. We had to take online classes at home because     44     the novel coronavirus. Anyway, I     45     (feel) good about it.

On the screen, our teachers gave lessons using PPTs. Their PPTs were great and they explained everything     46     (clear). We could interact (互动) with our teachers by     47     (chat) online and doing voice calls. Sometimes there were even video calls. So cool!
