	This is a big elephant. His name is Johnny. He is from India. He’s eleven years old. He has bad eyesight (视力). He likes fruit. He’s friendly and smart. People can teach him to do something for them.
	Tuantuan is a cute panda. She is five years old. She’s from China, She is very beautiful, but she’s shy, so please keep quiet. She likes eating bamboo and drinking water. She sleeps about 10 hours every day.

There are trains to carry people, animals or things. There are fast trains and slow ones. Some trains go through hills (穿越山洞). In big cities, like Beijing or Shanghai, the streets are usually very busy. So you can find trains under the ground (地下). People call them subways. They carry people quickly in and out of the city. Can a train run over rivers? Yes, it can. There are many bridges over the rivers. But it is not easy to build ( 建 造 )the bridges. Today’s trains have dining rooms for people. You may eat something in them on the way if you are hungry. Trains are useful to men, women and children. Many children have model trains. With the model trains they can build their own rails (轨道) and enjoy the wonderful trains.

Do you know an old city called “Pingyao” in Shanxi? The old city is not far from Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province (省). It’s a town with a long history of more than 2,000 years.

The old city is very small. It is only 2.25 square kilometers. And there are no tall buildings (楼) here. Most of the buildings have only two floors. And most of them are made of stones (石头). There are many Chinese-style shops on each side of the street.

Pingyao has a wall around it. It’s about 6 kilometers long and 12 meters high. The wall has six gates (门). And you mustn’t miss the nice food in Pingyao. Try Pingyao beef and you are sure to love it.

Pingyao is a place worth (值得) a visit. You can take buses or trains there. It’s less than (少于) 2 hours’ bus ride from Taiyuan. You need to pay only 20 yuan. If you take a train, it will take you less time, only one and a half hours. And if you want to go to Pingyao from Beijing, the train ride takes over four hours.
