Have you ever wanted to see your dreams after you woke up? AI technology may help you do this in the near future!

Researchers from Osakn University in Japan have trained an AI system to recreate images(重现图片) in people’s heads. The pictures AI has created include a teddy bear, an airplane and a clock tower. The technology is 80 percent accurate(准确的), reported Science magazine.

Previously(之前) there have been AI models that can turn a word or phrase into images. The AI has studied lots of images and their text descriptions. Over time, the AI can find patterns and recreate pictures if you first input(输入)text.

This time, the researchers took a step further. They trained the AI to link people’s brain scan data(扫描数据) with images. Then the AI find patterns of blood flow in the brain. Next, it would turn on the previous “text-to-image” model to improve the text. Finally, the AI would turn the text into the image.

“It’s a new method that combines(结合) textual and visual(视觉的) information to decipher(破译) the brain.” an expert from Princeton University told Science magazine.

Researchers said the technology could someday help people with paralysis(麻痹) to communicate. It might also help scientists understand dreams or even how other animals see the world.

Chinese scientist Hu Hailan has won the 2022 Oreal-UINESCO For Women in Science International Awards for her pioneering discovering in neural(神经的) biology, especially her work on depression(抑郁).     51     The awards are given each year to five great women scientists for their hard work on overcoming today’s global challenges. Hu is a professor at Zhejiang University.     52    

Born in 1973, Hu began to show an interest in scientific research at middle school.     53     She was accepted by Peking University in 1991 because of her excellent marks in a national physics competition. At the university, Hu fell in love with neural science.

Five years after graduation, Hu moved to the USA. She completed her Ph.D.(博士学位) studies at University of California. In 2002, Hu began her career as a scientist.     54    

In 2008, Hu returned to China. Most of her time in the lab was spent on trial and error(反复试验). During the past 10 years, Hu has received many national and international awards. For example, in 2019, Hu won the IBRO-Kemali International Prize.    55    

The world needs science, and science needs women. Hu says being a scientist is the best job, and that support from her country has helped her follow her dreams.

During the two sessions(两会) this year, life education has become a topic under heated discussion. Chen Wei, a deputy(代表)，suggests that life education should be     61     in school courses.

“Life education is so important for teenagers, because they are one of the     62     groups in society and     63     of students in China are facing mental(情感的) problems.” said Wang Xinhong, a teacher about the mental education at Shenzhen Middle School.

“As the Internet is now blending with students’ life, it is     64     to their mental health in some ways because they are receiving different values and facing more uncertainties. This makes them most likely to become mentally overwhelmed(不堪重负),” she added.

For     65     mental health, Shenzhen Middle School has made life education a course and has had “Life Education Week” since 2004. As an expert, Wang has rich experience in solving the mental problems of teenagers. “I believe the key to life education     67     in guiding teenagers to manage relationships properly,” said Wang “    68     they can manage the relationships with humans, nature and even the Internet plays an important role in their mental health.”

Although more schools are providing life education, they are still facing a great challenge: how to let students experience it personally     69     of only telling them. Wang suggests that more activities should be planned.

“We are looking forward to setting up an united system for life education connecting families, schools, communities and hospitals to work together for the     70     of teenagers,” said Wang.
