阅读理解-单选(约330词) | 适中(0.65)
文章大意:本文主要讲述了作者的一次中国经历,让他了解了食物的跨文化传播。

I clearly remember one experience in China that opened my eyes to the way food can cross cultures. A Chinese friend had rushed me to a restaurant in Beijing, determined to show me a famous dish. I was promised something unique, something that I had never seen before and that would change the way I thought about food forever.

What I was given was a bowl of ban mian. Although delicious, I couldn’t help feeling I had tried this dish before. As I twisted the noodles with my chopsticks, it hit me: is this not just Spaghetti Bolognese with Chinese characteristics?

Spaghetti Bolognese, a British variation of an Italian dish, is a spaghetti dish with meat and tomato sauce.

I had grown up hearing stories of the Italian trader and explorer Marco Polo bringing back pasta from his journeys in China in the 13th century. But the truth may be that pasta had been taken to Europe from China a lot earlier, possibly aided by Arab traders moving across Central Asia. British Spaghetti Bolognese is evidence that, even after it had reached Italy, this type of food didn’t stop changing.

While the first bites of my meal made me consider the historical journey of the common noodle, over the course of the meal I was inspired on a journey through my own personal history. ________. One lesson I remember clearly from my grandma is that the only way to tell if spaghetti is cooked properly is by throwing it at the wall. If it sticks, it’s ready to eat. If it falls, it still needs time to cook. I wondered to myself whether the walls of the kitchen at this restaurant were covered in similar strings of wheat.

36. How does the author feel about ban mian?
A.Surprised.B.Disappointed.C.Excited.D.Familiar.
37. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.The possible origin of pasta.B.The development of pasta.
C.The influence of pasta.D.The popularity of pasta in Europe.
38. What did the author learn about spaghetti from his grandma?
A.How to make a tasty sauce.B.How to eat it with chopsticks.
C.How to judge if it’s ready to eat.D.How to make it from wheat.
39. Which of the following can be put in ________?
A.With my father’s family being Italian, spaghetti was never far away.
B.During the journey, I have learned how to make a bowl of delicious spaghetti.
C.My father used to ask me to take a cooking course in Italy when living in Italy.
D.There is an interesting story between my family and I.
40. What message does the author seem to express in the text?
A.Cultural differences should be maintained in food.
B.Food can travel across cultures and change over time.
C.We should respect the history of each kind of food.
D.Every culture should stick to its traditional dishes.
