It was 7:00 in the morning. My cousin Jenny woke me up. After I got out of bed and got ________, I had breakfast with her. At the same time my dad was talking with ________ brother Paul about going to the mountains near the lake.

People in the UK spend their free time in different ways. They usually use it to relax.

They spend a lot of their free time at home. The most popular activity is watching TV. People in the UK watch TV for about 25 hours a week. They often record (录制) programs so they can watch them later. Reading is also a popular way of spending free time. People in the UK spend a lot of time reading newspapers and magazines. Many people in the UK have pets. They like playing with their pets in their free time.

In summer, gardening (园艺) is popular. And families often have a “day out” on the weekend. They often go to a festival or see a show. Young people like to go to clubs, and people of all ages like to go to the cinema.

In winter, “do it yourself” is popular. People often spend their free time repairing (修理) houses. Some free time activities are with friends. Asking friends for a drink or a meal at home is the most usual one. Sometimes people and their friends have dinner in a restaurant.

On the weekend, people in the UK like to spend their free time doing sport. The popular kinds of sports are soccer, horse racing, swimming, tennis, skating, climbing and hill walking.

There is an old tree on a dry land. The tree has so many branches(树枝). It brings shadow (树荫) to hundreds of travelers.

One day, two travelers got to the tree. They walked for a long time in the hot sun. They were too hot and tried to find a place to rest. Luckily, they found the big tree.

They made a decision to take a rest under the tree. They slept there for a short time. When they woke up, they felt hungry and one traveler climbed up the tree. But he was sad to see nothing.

He started to say bad words to the tree. “Oh, this is just a useless tree without any fruit on it!” The other traveler said nothing about the tree but asked his friend to be quiet. However, the traveler in the tree still shouted at the tree.

The tree couldn't stand the traveler at last. He said in a sad yet strong voice, “You can't be so ungrateful(忘恩负义的) to me, Just look back to the time when you got here in the hot sun! I gave you a cool and comfortable place to rest. You would die now without me!”

Many people do much for us, but we sometimes forget to give thanks but only complain（抱怨）! Make sure not to say any bad words to the one who has helped you.

My father was very terrible to me, either for the money or his love. He was also the same even when I got into middle school. I had to walk home every day after school. The school is about two kilometers from home, but he never came to drive me home, not even in bad weather. If I moaned, he would say in his father-like voice, “That’s what your legs are for! Stop moaning and don’t be such a lazy kid!”

I was always afraid to walk along the highway in the dark. I also felt that my father never loved me. But something became different on a spring evening. After long hours at school, I had to go home on foot again. I took my heavy schoolbag to start the way back home.

There were a lot of bushes along the way. When I arrived at the Chinese noodle house, I felt kind of happy because it meant that I was almost home. Then, I saw a grey spot（点）going along the top of the bushes. To my surprise, I found it was the top of my father’s head! Finally, I knew each time I came home, he stood behind the bush, watching, until he knew I arrived safely. Saying nothing, I got on my way home...

Do you want to be in good health? Try to do the following things! You can become stronger.

Drink eight cups of water every day. Water helps your body in many ways. It isn’t right to drink water only when you are thirsty.

Don’t forget to eat your breakfast. Breakfast gives you everything your body needs for the morning. So, do not forget your breakfast and eat something good.

Get enough calcium (钙). Your bones (骨头) need it. Milk has more calcium, so drink a cup of milk before you sleep every day. You can also get it from the sunshine. If it is a sunny day, you should go out to enjoy the sunshine.

Go for a walk every day after meals. If you eat too much, you should take a walk. It’s also good exercise for children and old people, because they can’t do some of the difficult sports. It’s best to walk half an hour after having dinner.

Have a rest for about twenty minutes when you are tired. You may do something different to have a rest. For example, get out and walk, or sit down to listen to music. It’s bad for our health to work and sit for a long time.

Try to do the things above! You can become stronger.

There are fifty students in our class. I have made a survey.

Forty-three students say they like to exercise. Most boys play basketball together twice a week. But girls think basketball is difficult for them, so they would like to play volleyball together twice a week. My friend Tony, is good at running. He runs fastest in our class. He runs for 30 minutes on the playground every evening before he goes to bed. Is it interesting?

Most of my classmates have good eating habits. They eat both meat and vegetables. Twenty students say they drink milk two to four times a week. The others drink milk every day. But some students like to eat junk food, especially Sally. What’s worse is that she doesn’t like to exercise, so she is very fat. She always says “ I’m going to lose weight（体重）tomorrow.”
