Since the park is built for the opening and closing ceremonies (庆典) of FISU (大运会), many people were taking photos with the huge flare tower (火炬塔). There is a beautiful greenway for the young to run along. No riding in the park is the only problem that matters to me.

Luxembourg is a small country between Belgium, France, and Germany. It is one of the smallest countries in the world— less than 1,000 square miles (2,586 square kilometers) in area. In spite of its small size, the country plays an important part in Europe. It’s one of three capitals of the European Union and it’s home to the European Court of Justice—the highest court in Europe.
But Luxembourg has a traffic problem. During rush hours— the times that most cars are on the road as people drive to or from work— there are lots of traffic jams. Some trips that should take 30 minutes can take an hour or longer.
One reason for the traffic jams is that Luxembourg has more cars one person than most other European countries. There are 662 cars for every 1,000 people. The average in the European Union is 468 cars for 1,000 people.
It’s not just the people of Luxembourg causing the problem. Luxembourg only has about 600,000 people in all— fewer than most large cities. But so many workers come into Luxembourg from the countries around it. Close to 200,000 people travel to and from the country every day for work.

School students have to do homework and study for tests. They don’t have much free time on weekdays. They often do chores on weekends.
Young kids only do easy chores. So they don’t get much money. But that’s enough. Many of them only want to buy candy. And candy is cheap! They often help do the dishes, sweep the floor, or feed the pet cat or dog.
When they get older, they want to buy more and more things. They want things that are more expensive than candy. So they have to work harder! They often help their parents wash the family car, cut the grass, or cook meals.
Some jobs are good ways for kids to learn new things. For example, they can learn how to use a lawn mower(割草机) or how to cook. Of course, their parents help them at first.

The girl’s arm got hurt badly. It’s unusual for a family pet to hurt its loving owner. But Lilo should never have been anyone’s pet. He was actually a tiger.
There are thousands of tigers, lions and other big cats kept as pets in American homes.“People love the idea of owning something wild and special,”says Nicole Paquette of the Animal Protection Institute.“But they have no idea how hard it is to take care of them.”
Tigers like Lilo can grow to weigh 650 pounds. They are strong and powerful. Each year many people are hurt or killed by pet tigers and other big cats.
The situation can also be deadly for the big cats themselves. They often end up in small and dirty cages. Living in dirty conditions, the cats become sick and often more aggressive. Many of them die. Others are sold to roadside zoos or to hunting ranches (狩猎牧场).
Shirley Minshew works to help send some big cats to sanctuaries ( 鸟兽保护区). But as Minshew says,“Most of these sanctuaries are already full.”So are big city zoos.
The only way to solve the problem is for people to stop buying these animals.“Although they can be kept in cages, they will never be like a dog or a cat,”says Paquette.“They are wild — and they should be allowed to stay that way.”
