One article says there are about 28 acts of violence (暴力) in an hour on TV, and the number is rising. That's a big problem for most parents.
We can imagine (想象) kids spend much time watching TV violence. If so, kids have less time to do other things. For example, they would like to sit in front of TV instead of playing outdoor activities. Sometimes they even may forget to do their homework. We still worry that kids are glad to do what they watch on TV. Though (虽然) they think it's quite exciting, they may become impolite or even bad.
How to prevent (阻止) kids from watching violence on TV? First, our government (政府) should control TV violence. Second, parents and teachers should help kids choose what they watch. Third, they should take kids outdoors and enjoy other kinds of hobbies (爱好).
Up to now, people have realized (意识到) it's time to save kids from TV violence. Still, we have a long way to go.

“My father wants me to experience a hard rural (农村的) life. And I’d like to try it,” Liu said. “But I’m not sure if I can use the Internet there, so I downloaded (下载) some games. I’d like to carry them with me.”
Liu Hengmin, the boy’s father, was born in a village in Gansu. He came to Xi’an to make a living more than 20 years ago. “I worked hard and started my own business, and it became successful. But my son, although 15 years old, cannot take care of himself. He spends a lot of money every day.” Liu Hengmin said. After reading an article in a newspaper, which said that boys from well-off families were turning out “lazy and timid (胆小的)”, Liu talked with his wife and they decided to send their son to their village to experience the hard side of life.
Like Liu, there are several other parents in the city who want to give their sons a special “experience” this winter. They can’t focus on (专注于) their work. Kids learn language skills best by reading, talking and playing with others. If they spend too much time watching TV, they’ll have less time for those things. Watching too much TV is bad for people’s health. People don’t move much while watching TV. What’s more, they may eat a lot of food while watching. This can make them fat. We call these people “couch potatoes”.

Next time you’re in a public place, take a look around you, and see how many people are using their mobile phones. I can tell you that it is probably more than half. With the development of technology, we can now do almost anything on mobile phones. How does the mobile phones affect(影响)the young? Do they really need mobile phones? Some British parents, teachers and teenagers(青少年)give their opinions(观点)on this subject.
Parents want their kids to be safe. Are teenagers safer with a mobile phone or without? William, a parent of two kids, says. “The great thing about my kids having mobile phones is that I can keep in touch with them. The worst thing about teenagers having phones is that some young people use them to send impolite messages to each other.” Some parents have rules about their children’s mobile phone. If they break the rules, their phones will be kept by their parents.
In the UK, students can take their mobile phones to school, but they cannot use them in class. Some teachers complain(抱怨)that students don’t always follow the rules. They don’t listen carefully in class because they are using their phones to surf the Internet, chat with friends and so on. As for the students, most of them think phones are part of their lives. They can keep in touch with family and friends, and they can take photos, keep important in formation and go online, which is very convenient(方便).
It’s true that mobile phones have become a symbol(象征)of the modern life. This makes teenager’s life much more convenient, but if teenagers depend too much on them, it can lead to serious problems. Increasingly scientists are saying that everyone needs a break from mobile phones—put them away and enjoy “the real life”. In fact it can be very easy—next time when you go out with friends, put all of your phones in the middle of the table. Whoever touches his phone first has to pay the bill!
Indeed, the convenience brought by mobile phones is great, but don’t let your phone become more important than the “real” people in your “real” life.

A.Schools should stop students from taking their phones to school. |
B.Mobile phones are useful but teenagers shouldn’t depend too much. |
C.The mobile phone is the most important invention in modern life. |
D.Talking with friends on mobile phones is better than doing it face to face. |

In 2019, the United Nations announced May 21 to be International Tea Day. The purpose is to remind people of tea’s value.
The cultural value of tea is in old traditions and daily habits. In China, people use best-quality tea when receiving important guests. British people are well-known for their afternoon tea, while in Russia, the beautiful teapot has become a symbol of Russian culture.
The more people keep drinking tea as a habit and tradition, the more economically (在经济上) important tea becomes. According to Xinhua, China comes first in the world in total tea-planting area and produces the most tea every year. Around 115 million Chinese people work in this rapidly growing industry. In many poor areas, people live on tea industry.
To attract more customers, tea companies are trying to give the old drink a new look. The Chinese tea brand (品牌) Xiao Guan Tea uses fashionable designs to make its tea more attractive. Hey Tea, a Guangdong-based brand that has received lots of clicks online, has won over many young tea drinkers with its special taste. It does seem that a small cup of tea connects everything — farmers and customers, tradition and fashion.
Tea is also of value in keeping people healthy. Tea leaves can help lower the risk of cancer and heart disease. What’s more, tea helps us lose weight and keeps our mind clear. But doctors advise that we should not drink too much tea. Otherwise, we might not fall asleep at night, as tea can make us excited.

Recently some scientists believe that we will live on Mars(火星) by the year 2100. Here is what life will be like on Mars in 2100.
Tranasport(交通) will be much better. It takes months to get to Mars today. But in 2100, the spaceship can travel at half the speed(速度) of light. It might take us two or three days to get to Mars.
Because none of us can live without food, water or air, scientists will develop plants that can be grown on Mars. These plants will produce(生产) food and air that we need. However, can these plants produce water for us? There is still no answer now.
Life on Mars will be better than that on Earth in many ways. Living in a large building with 10 bedrooms in even possible for people. Many people believe that robots will do most of our work, so we will have more spare(空闲的) time.

One day, he bought us two backpacks and asked us to go to the mountain with him. We walked the whole day. Every now and then he put stones in our backpacks. To our surprise, he also took some stones out from them. But we thought he had just found better stones.
When we returned to the house, we were very tired. The backpacks were so heavy that we felt relief (轻松) when we took them off. Yet our uncle’s backpack was half empty.
“Why did you give us so many stones?” we asked.
“I didn’t. You did.” he said. “You didn’t know it, but I gave you a little attitude (态度) test today. I listened to every word you said. Whenever you were complaining, I added a stone to your backpack. Every time you talked about something with positive (积极的) thinking, I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks.”
Our backpacks were full of stones.
“Your negative (消极的) thoughts are just like stones. You carry them in your mind just like those stones in your backpacks. The more negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind will be.” said our uncle.
