Disney movies are very popular around the world. You may still remember the characters and stories of Disney movies after many years and think you know Disney movies really well. But there's one thing about Disney movies you may never know.

Many people think that the lack of mothers in Disney movies has something to do with the death (死亡) of Walt Disney's mother in the early 1940s. Many people think that Walt put sadness over his mother's death into his films. However, many of his movies before his mom's death also lacked moms. Hahn said lacking mothers is a way to bring out the themes (主题) like growing up in the short movie time. Many movies lasted (持续) long after Walt's death, like Beauty and the Beast. In these films, main characters lose or leave their parents and they have to grow up and become strong.

Dr Bethune was born on 3 March, 1890. When he decided to go and help the Chinese people in 1937, he had been an experienced doctor for years. After he got to China, Dr Bethune often travelled on horse with a mobile medical unit to help the soldiers. Dr Bethune did many operations to save lives. Instead, Dr Bethune shared his food, clothes and even his own blood with soldiers who were badly hurt. Bethune believed people should always help one another. Unluckily, all the hard work and travel made Dr Bethune weak. His eyes and teeth became poor. What was worse, he lost part of his hearing. One day, Dr Bethune cut his finger in an operation. Then he developed a blood disease (疾病). There was no medicine to help him at that time. On 12 November 1939, Dr Bethune died in the village of Huang Shikou in Hebei Province.
One month later, Mao Zedong wrote an essay (散文) to remember Dr Bethune. Millions of Chinese people read it. Even today, people from around the world still remember Dr Bethune. He was a hero who helped many people.

However, several studies have shown a serious problem: today’s teenagers lack media literary (媒体素养). In other words, they have difficulty thinking about the information they see. Standford professor Kevin John teaches a class called Media Effects. He tries to help his students learn media literacy. The professor gave an example that shows why media literacy is important. In the example, two news stations report a snowstorm. One focuses on (关注) the terrible road conditions. The other focuses on kids playing in the snow.
“With a news story, news stations tell you what they feel are the important details (细节). These details mostly depend on the opinions of the news director,” said John. “A person who has media literacy would realize that each story is about one side at this time. There is more going on.”
Some experts think the school is the best place to teach media literacy. Others believe everyone—from parents to reporters—should help teenagers learn the skills.
As for the best time to start learning media literacy, many experts suggest the age of 12. But some basic ideas can be taught even earlier. “It’s never too early to start learning media literacy,” John said.
