Who is the greatest teacher in Chinese history? Many people would think of Confucius, whose birthday was September 28. Although he lived over 2000 years ago, people still remember and respect him for his contribution to the education today.
Confucius lived in the Kingdom of Lu, during the Spring and Autumn period. He had a hard childhood. His father died when he was only 3 year old. His mother brought him up. As a child, he had to work to help his mother, but young Confucius didn’t give up studying. He visited many famous teachers and learned music, history, poetry and sports.
Later he became a teacher and started the first public school in Chinese history. At that time only children from Noble family could go to school, but Confucius believed everyone should go to school if they wanted to learn. He had about 3000 students in his lifetime.
Today people still follow his lessons. He told us that we all have something worthy to be learned. “When I am with three people. One of them must be beret than me in some areas. I choose their good qualities and follow them.”
He also told us that thinking is very important in study. “All study but no thinking makes people puzzled(迷惑的), All thinking but no study makes people lazy”
Confucius is not only a teacher, but also a great thinker with wise thoughts about the world and society. His most important teachings are about kindness and good manners. “A person should be strict with himself, but to kind to others” He said.

②In a study, over 85% of parents think health comes first. They think after-school activities, such as swimming, playing basketball and football, are good for children. And the after-school activities at school are not expensive, so they can save a lot of money. With no homework at home, parents and their children can have time to read and listen to music they like.
③Most students are happy with the “double reduction” policy. They do homework at school and have much time to do their favourite activities after school. They also like to do some special homework, such as cooking and cleaning at home.
④Teachers think after-school activities at school are important to students. Students do homework in class and teachers can help them with it. 【推荐1】The fridge is considered necessary. It has been so since the 1960s when packaged food list appeared with the label: “Store in the refrigerator.”
In my fridge-less fifties childhood, I was fed well and healthy. The milkman came every day, the grocer, the butcher, the baker, and the ice-cream man delivered two or three times each week. The Sunday meat would last until Wednesday and surplus(剩余的)bread and milk became all kinds of cakes. Nothing was wasted, and we were never troubled by rotten food. Thirty years on food deliveries have ceased, fresh vegetables are almost unobtainable in the country.
The invention of the fridge contributed comparatively little to the art of food preservation. Many well-tried techniques already existed -- natural cooling, drying, smoking, salting, sugaring, bottling ...
What refrigeration did promote was marketing -- marketing hardware and electricity, marketing soft drinks, marketing dead bodies of animals around the world in search of a good price.
Consequently, most of the world’s fridges are to be found, not in the tropics where they might prove useful, but in the rich countries with mild temperatures where they are climatically almost unnecessary. Every winter, millions of fridges hum away continuously, and at vast expense, busily maintaining an artificially-cooled space inside an artificially-heated house -- while outside, nature provides the desired temperature free of charge.
The fridges’ effect upon the environment has been evident, while its contribution to human happiness has been insignificant. If you don’t believe me, try it yourself, invest in a food cabinet and turn off your fridge next winter. You may not eat the hamburgers, but at least you’ll get rid of that terrible hum.

In real life, he is called "the father of Indian women wrestling" because thousands of girls across India have been supported to take up wrestling with his efforts.
A very famous Indian actor—Aamir Khan (阿米尔汗), played the role of Mahavir in the movie. It was an unusual experience for him. Aamir Khan was very serious about his character and he tried to make this character close to the true story. In order to act well, he needed to put on weight to be very fat and then did sports to be very strong in a short time.
Aanir Khan started to eat a lot every day before making the movie. He ate at least 5 meals a day including much junk food. He became too fat to run quickly.
It is simple to be fat but difficult to be strong. Aamir Khan invited many coaches to train him to lose weight and it took him a few months to be strong. He must eat less food and drink more water. Strength training is also important. This kind of physical training is very boring. He had to lift different weights and did over and over again. Aamir Khan set a goal to himself day by day and the minute he made it, he fell down on the ground and could hardly stand up. In the end, he became the exact person the movie needed.
The role he played was very moving and he succeeded at last. As he says, the most important thing in life is not whether you can reach your goal but whether you have made the greatest efforts.

D.He tried to play a perfect role in the movie. |
I am writing to tell you something about the Art Festival held at my school last month. It was the fourth time we held this event. The festival lasted(持续) for a whole week and is one of the most popular school events.
We held a paper folding competition. The students made animals, houses, food, rockets and many other things with paper. They were so creative. Their creations looked so much like the real things.
We also learnt how to tie-dye (扎染) a T-shirt. We first tied a T-shirt in knots and then put it into the dye (染料). By doing so, some parts of the T-shirt were colored more deeply than the other parts. It was interesting to see all those different designs created by the students.
On the last day of the festival, we held an evening party. The students gave wonderful performances, including singing, dancing, crosstalk and dramas. We all had a good time at the party.
The Art Festival was really fun. Does your school have an art festival? Can you share something about your school’s art festival with me?
Best regards,
Linda
