【推荐1】Long ago, there lived a clever man in China. He was famous for his wide knowledge. And lots of people from all over the country came to learn things from him. The great man taught his students with all his heart and answered their questions with great patience(耐心).

One day a student asked him, “My dear teacher, didn’t you say you have more questions than we do? But we think we students have a lot more than you.” With a smile, the teacher drew two circles—one is as large as a big plate, and the other smaller.

“Of course, I’ve learned much more. But I don’t think I know all you know. Now, look at these two circles:Inside the big one is my knowledge of things, and inside the smaller one is yours. Out of the circles is what we don’t know. My circle is larger, so its line is longer. That means I have more chances to meet with what I don’t know. And that’s why I have more questions than you. Be on time! They think it is impolite to be late in America. If you come late, be sure to enter quietly. You don’t need to knock at the door before you go into the classroom.

If the teacher asks a question, you should give an answer. If you don’t understand the question, you should raise your hand and ask the teacher to repeat the question. If you don’t know the answer, it is all right to tell the teacher that you don’t know it.

文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文。一天晚上,作者去参加一个中学的聚会,遇到了曾经帮助过的叛逆女孩Sarah。

【推荐3】I got an invitation to take part in an education conference (会议) at a high school. At lunchtime, I saw a young girl who looked familiar. I knew she had been a student of mine. I tried hard to recall her name, but I couldn’t. It really made me sad, as I have always been able to remember former students.

Her eyes met mine and she threw her arms around me and said, “Mrs G, it’s me Sarah, and I’m still writing!” All the memories soon came back to my mind. You see. Sarah was never a student in my classroom. Sarah’s mother had left her family and her father was absent (缺席的) from her life as well. She was sent to live with foster parents (养父母) the year I met her. Sarah was angry, often got in trouble and was often in the headmaster’s office.
It was during one of those office visits that I first met her. She was writing in a notebook with a very angry look on her face. I introduced myself to her and asked her what she was writing about. Sarah shared her story with me. Her writing spoke to me. It filled my heart and I knew it was good for her to put her thoughts on paper. Every morning at school before I started my classes, she would come into my classroom and we would work on her writing skills.
My experience years ago with Sarah taught me that teachers have a great influence on their students, even when those students are troubled. Taking the time to talk with a child has the power to truly change that child’s life. That’s why I teach.

A.To show off her writing skills.
B.To help the girl release (释放) her thoughts.
C.To help the girl realize her mistakes.
