A crow(乌鸦)noticed that white doves(鸽子)could get food from humans. He was hungry and hoped to get food from humans as well. He cried but nobody noticed him. He thought, “It’s better to be a dove than a crow.”
Just then he saw a bucket(桶)full of white paint. He jumped into the paint and flew out. Now, he was as white as a dove. Then he flew towards doves and ate corn given to doves. None of the doves noticed that there was a crow among them.
The crow was so happy that he cried loudly, “Caw, caw.” All the doves found that this bird in white was a crow. They started to hit him and forced him to fly away.
Later, the crow saw some crows and thought, “Ah! Friends.” He flew towards them but the crows were surprised to see a white bird flying among them. They all flew away, leaving him alone.
Suddenly it started raining and the rain washed away the paint. The crow became sad and he flew towards another group of crows. The leader of the group asked him what had happened, and the crow told his story. After hearing the story, the leader said, “Copying others never lasts long and can’t bring happiness. Always be yourself.”

Once in a small village with green hills and clear streams (小溪), there was a young boy named Jake. Jake loved to try new things, but often, he failed.
Jake decided to climb the highest hill near his village. The people said, “It’s too hard, Jake! No one has ever made it to the top.” But Jake wanted to try. He started climbing early in the morning. The path (道路) was filled with lots of dangerous rocks. Halfway up, Jake fell down and hurt his knee. Sitting there, he thought about going back.
Then, he saw a tiny ant trying to carry a big leaf. The leaf dropped many times but the ant kept trying. Seeing that, Jake thought, “If that tiny ant can keep trying, so can I.”

The Harry Potter series (系列丛书) by J.K. Rowling is considered to be one of the most beloved stories of all time. There are plenty of life lessons that can be learned from the series. Here are four of my favorites:
Friends will always try their best to help you.
Whenever Harry finds himself in trouble, Ron and Hermione face it with him together. Harry, Ron and Hermione complete each other with their own talents. With the support of friends, anything is possible.
It is great to be smart, but sometimes, it isn’t the most important thing.
There are more important things than smartness — friendship and courage. As Hermione points out, sometimes knowing the right answer is not enough. Harry would never have been successful without the help of Hermione, but his courage makes him able to fight for what he believes in.
You control your future through the choices that you make.
Sometimes it may seem everything is out of your hands. However, with the right mindset (心态), you can control your life. For teenagers, everything seems to be controlled by pressure from parents, teachers and friends. But your thoughts and actions can make everything change.
Love is the most powerful weapon (武器) you can have.
Love saves Harry many times throughout the stories. Harry understands that he is more powerful than Voldemort, not because he is a better wizard (男巫) but because Voldemort never knows love. Harry’s love for his friends allows him to put them before himself. It is just love that makes Harry Potter go through hard times.
It’s hard not to fall in love with the characters, the stories and the writing of the Harry Potter series. Not only are they interesting, they also teach us many valuable life lessons.

Once upon a time there lived a farmer. He earned money by selling the products from his farm. He gave all his money to the poor people. So, the whole village respected him. But he had a big problem in his farm. Whenever he spread seeds (种子) in his farm, the crows (乌鸦) would come and eat them up. He was worried about this trouble as he got less money from his farm.
“I must do something about these crows. I will be in deep trouble if I do not stop these crows,” he thought. He complained about this problem to his friends. They gave him an idea to get rid of the crows. “Go to the town and buy a large net. Trap (设陷捕获) the crows in the net with some grains (谷粒).”
So the next day, the farmer bought a net and some grains. He placed the net on the farm and spread the grain over it. Then he went away and hid himself.

Suddenly the farmer heard a weak voice among the noises of the crows. There was a pigeon (鸽子) among the crows. Both the pigeon and the bad crows were in the net. The pigeon said, “Mr. Farmer, please let me go. You are angry with the crows, not with me.”
The farmer said, “But you too have been caught stealing from my farm. I will not let you go,” said the farmer. The pigeon had to pay a heavy price for being in the wrong group. There are two kinds of camels on the earth. They are Arabian(阿拉伯的) camels and Asian camels. Arabian camels are dromedaries(单峰骆驼), but Asian camels are bactrians(双峰骆驼). An adult camel is about 2 metres tall and weighs about 500 kilograms. Its legs are long. And its feet are big and soft. Most of the camels can live for about 40 years, but they usually stop working when they are about 25.
Camels live alone in the desert. They aren’t afraid of the hot and cold weather. They mainly eat grass, leaves and bushes. They can walk for more than 600 kilometres without drinking. They only need to do drink water every six or eight days. But when there is water, they can drink up to 90 liters(升). Camels walk slowly. They don’t like running because it’s too hot. But if they need, they can run at 20 kilometres an hour.

An ant has two stomachs. One stomach keeps the food for itself and the other keeps food for other ants. Like all insects, the outside of their body is hard.
Each ant has at least one or more queens. The queen’s job is to lay eggs and worker ants look after queens. Worker ants look after the young, protect(保护) the nest(巢穴) from unwanted visitors and look for food. At night, worker ants move the eggs and baby ants deep into the nest, and protect them from the cold. During the daytime, worker ants move them to the top of the nest to keep them warmer. Some worker ants have to take the rubbish out from the nest.
Many people don’t like ants. To stop them coming into the kitchen(厨房), people put some sugar outside. Ants have so much to eat that they are not interested in coming into the kitchen.
