When we play a game with our classmates or friends, we usually need to make some rules first. I think it’s very important to have rules.
There are lots of rules in my school. We have to get to school on time. We have to wear the school uniform on Mondays and Thursdays. We can’t run in the hallways. We can’t fight. I think it’s very good to have rules at school.
We have to follow traffic (交通) rules. We can go at green lights (灯) and have to stop at red lights. The traffic rules make us safe (安全的).
When we take a car or sit next to the driver, we have to wear the safety belts (安全带). Also, little children need to take the back seats. The car rules make us safe, too.

So before crossing the street, you must look to the right and then to the left. If the traffic lights are red, people can go across the zebra line (斑马线). If the traffic lights turn green, and people mustn’t cross the road.
In the morning and in the evening, when people go to or come from work, the streets are very busy. The traffic is the most dangerous when you go somewhere by bus in Hong Kong, too. Always remember the traffic keeps to the left. Have a look first or you may go the wrong way.

Drowning (溺水) is among the 10 leading causes of death of children and young people in every place of the world. Tragedies (悲剧) are happening over and over again. To prevent them from growing further, we need to keep some safety tips in mind.
•Drowning ≠ Crying for help.
Drowning is often not as dramatic (引人注目的) as what we see in movies. (74题. 翻译句子) When someone is drowning, especially if it is a child, he may not be able to shout out. A lot of times when kids drown, it looks like they are just absent-minded—but they are actually going unconscious (无意识的). At this point, they should be immediately carried out of the water.
•Life jackets can save your life.
Don’t use air-filled or foam (泡沫)toys, such as “water wings”, “noodles”, instead of life jackets. These toys are not life jackets and can not keep swimmers safe well.
•Don’t try to save drowning friends.
This is not when you should show your love to your drowning friends and family members. It is very likely that you can get yourself into danger, and might end up becoming a drowning victim (受害者) yourself.
Saving someone drowning hand-in-hand with a few others can be even more dangerous. The “human chain” you form can easily break if one of you experiences any kind of tiredness, and one person can knock down the whole team.
•Know who can save a life.
Now, knowing that you can not really save a life, who should you ask for help? Lifeguards. They are usually well-trained and are equipped (装备) with many tested life-saving methods. Therefore, if you think you see someone drowning, call a lifeguard at once, even if you’re not sure what drowning looks like or think you might be wrong.

【推荐2】What do you do in a situation like this? You’re having dinner with friends at a nice restaurant. You’re having a great time when a phone rings at the table next to you. A man takes out his phone and starts talking loudly about problems he’s having with his girlfriend. He talks for almost ten minutes! This happens all the time-on buses, in restaurants, everywhere!
Many people find cell phones useful in their daily lives. But we’ve all sat next to someone talking too loudly on a cell phone. You may want to tell the loudmouth to end the conversation, but let the management take care of those noisy customers. You can only control your own behavior. Here are a few rules:
Off means off! Follow the rules of restaurants and other public places. If a sign says “turn off cell phones”, don’t use your phone. If you are allowed, speak softly for a short time and try to move away from other people.
Lights off, phone off! Never make calls in a theater or at the movies.
Pay attention! Talking on a cell phone while driving is dangerous. And watch where you’re going when you’re walking down the streets and talking on the phone.
As more people use cell phones, things are only going to get worse. So, the next time you’re getting ready to make a call, stop and consider the people around you.

Most sporting arenas(竞技场) have rules for audience written on the back of the tickets. Read your ticket carefully before you arrive. Try to reach your seat half an hour before the start of the event and don't leave when a game is in progress. When you have, remember to take away your soft drink bottles and other rubbish.
During exciting games, try to control yourself. Don't criticize(批评) the performance of players and coaches. Be careful with your words, since some may cause anger among other people in the audience.
Clapping(鼓掌) is a special form of body language you can use to communicate with players, but you should do it properly. When players first appear, clap your hands together to welcome them, but don't go on for too long. After an excellent performance, clap warmly. If someone fails, your clapping will help encourage them.

Everyone has his or her own living habits. Building good living habits is important. Why are some habits better than others? Let’s find out.
Why do we need to eat coarse food grains?
Corn, sweet potato, soybean and oats are all coarse food grains(粗粮). 2 Eating coarse food grains is good for your health. They have a lot of dietary fiber(食用纤维). It’s good for your stomach. You can cook them in porridge or make drinks with them.
Why shouldn’t we bend our heads for a long time?
Keeping your head bent down for long is not good for your neck. Why is that? It’s because you put too much pressure on your neck. It’s like putting two watermelons (about 27 kilograms) on your neck. You might have neck and shoulder pain by doing that.
Why shouldn’t we rub(揉) our eyes?
Your hands are much dirtier than you think. When you rub your eyes, the bacteria(细菌) on your hands might go into your eyes. If something gets in your eyes, do not rub them. Clean them with running water instead.
Why is a cold-water bath after exercising bad?
After exercising, your skin is sweating(流汗) and your heart is beating fast. A cold-water bath will stimulate(刺激) them too much. It might make you sick. You’d better wait for a while until your body cools down. Then you can take a warm-water bath to relax.

Every day, we spend time filling the necessary tasks bottle with useful things, like making money, doing housework, buying food and paying bills. We then fill another bottle with voluntary tasks. These are things that we do for others, but we may not enjoy them. This bottle gets filled with tasks like taking children to activities and cooking family meals. Those bottles are very important. If we don’t fill them each day, our family won’t run properly.
However, we often forget to fill the (A)__________ bottle — the happiness bottle. We fill the bottle with activities that make us happy. Is your happiness bottle sometimes empty at the end of the day? Between doing all the necessary and voluntary tasks, time flies by. We need time to do something to enjoy ourselves and before we know (B) it, it is time for bed. We all have days like that.
That is why each day we have to fill our happiness bottle. I fill mine by going to the dance class. This week, I filled it by taking part in a guitar practice. It was a time of fun. At the end of the evening, my happiness bottle was filled to top.
(C) __________ Will your activities bring joy to your life? Or are the (D) __________ two tasks eating up all your time? Try to find ways to get a balance (平衡) between how you fill your three bottles. At the end of the day, hopefully we’ve done all we can to make sure that our happiness bottle is also filled.

These days we always see the beautiful and slim(苗条的)actresses and models in pictures, videos, advertisements and shop windows, which keep telling us about how we should look. So it’s really hard to love our body, especially for girls.
I always wanted to look like the slim girls on TV even though I knew it was impossible. The weight was always a worry for me. So I tried every new diet. I read about online. I tried no-fat(零脂肪), low-fat, only bananas, no bananas—I almost went bananas.
Then I read an article that said instead of asking “Am I fat?” I should ask “Am I fit?”. I had no idea a letter could make such a great difference! From then on I started thinking about fitness rather than weight. Then things began to change. Instead of saying “I want to lose three kilos”, I would say “I want to run two kilometers in eight minutes” or “I want to be able to do 30 push-ups”. Rather than cutting out the foods I enjoyed, I added healthy foods to my meals. I could still have a burger sometimes, but I would add a salad or an apple.
Finally, I didn’t compare myself with actresses and models or look for what was wrong with my face or body. I began to make a list of the things I like about myself. By being positive(积极的)about myself and my body, I got more happiness and also a healthier body.
Nowadays, many girls don’t love their body. That’s |
