【推荐1】A university researcher in Beijing posted an open letter online, in which he mentioned that he had not spoken to his parents for 12 years. Because in his opinion, it is his parents that caused his mental(心理)problems.

It is possibly true that a straight-A student(学霸)is easier to get into problems caused by over control from their parents than an ordinary one.

Wang Meng was once a straight-A student(学霸)who graduated from Peking University. He didn’t have the basic ability of taking care of himself, though he was almost the best in all his subjects. While studying in university, he was often laughed at by his classmates and roommates. He says he has so little self-confidence that he cannot get along well with other people, and this is only part of his mental problem. According to his letter, his life has always been planned and decided by his parents. And they stick to what they consider best for him. Although his parents agree there are problems with their education, they still take pride in Wang’s wonderful grades.

Wang Meng’s story has drawn attention from the whole society to the problem of children’s development. Achieving a good grade is not the only purpose of life and it must not be regarded as the only way to evaluate(评价)the performance of the children. Their development and learning are expected to be connected with their interest and independence rather than over caring from their parents.

What day leaves you a deep impression(印象)? For teachers in Yali group, Dec 11th was a big day, when teachers from 17 middle schools joined in the “Teaching Contest(比赛) in Yali Group”.

3】How important is music? When they are asked this question, students and parents usually answer that music is nice, but not very important. It is often thought only as entertainment, but they do not want their children make it as the first choice for education. This opinion is shortsighted. In fact, music education is necessary and important for all students.

Music tells us who we are. Music reflects (反映) the creators’ thinking and values, as well as the social environment it came from. For example, just as Mozart music shows a lifestyle, rock music shows a lifestyle, too. The jazz influence that George Gershwin and other musicians introduced into their music is clearly American because it came from American musical traditions.

Music does not shows a kind of ability to know the world in the same way. Science tells us how the sun rises and sets. Music looks for more inside meanings. We need every possible way to discover and reply to our world because no one way can get it all.

Music is a form of thought, as powerful as science. It is a way we human beings “talk” to each other. Through the language we show our feelings, our discoveries, our ideas, our imagination and our hopes so that they can be understood by others. When we do not let our children receive good music education, we take away from them the meanings that music tells. Science does not tell us what it means to be human. Music does.So music education is more necessary than people usually think.
