Whether you like it or not, death is a part of life. Understanding death can help us cherish(珍爱)our time and live our best lives. Zhongyuan Festival and Qingming Festival in China celebrate this topic.
In April, there is a special day when people remember their ancestors. It is Tomb Sweeping Day, also known as Qingming Festival. This year, it fell on April 5th. While the term Qingming was first recorded in the Western Han Dynasty, it was until the Tang Dynasty that it became a national holiday to honor the dead. It was also combined with other festivals. One of them is called hanshi, meaning “cold meal”, which falls two days before Tomb Sweeping Day. For three days, ancient people would not use fire and eat only cold meals. To celebrate the festival, families first sweep dust off the tombs and then put flowers, food and wine to the tombs of their ancestors.
Zhongyuan Festival is another festival in China to remember the dead, which falls on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month and on Aug 30th this year. Since ancient times, the Chinese have believed that the gates of hell open on that day and so people hold all kinds of activities to honor the ghosts. Therefore, the festival is also called the Ghost Festival. Among the different folk customs of the Zhongyuan Festival, the floating(漂浮的)water lanterns is the most important. On the night of the festival, lanterns are set into rivers or lakes. People believe this can help dead people find their way home.

Chen’s idea was inspired by the three-child policy (政策). “My friend Sina and I thought it would bring problems like parental favoritism (父母偏心),” Chen said. “Most families still don’t know any methods to deal with this.”

They then founded the community to spread the idea. “We hold lectures and discussions as well as go on radio and TV programs to spread useful information,” Chen said.
Chen and his friend Sina would do one-on-one conversations with people who felt self-conscious (难为情的) about sharing their stories. “It’s understandable that at first, they need time to trust us since we are young,” Chen said. “But listening is the key, and slowly they will realize that we are professional.”

Like some animals, dolphins use sounds to help them find their way around. They also use these sounds to talk to each other and help them find food. They do not use their ears to receive sounds, but use the jaw —the lower part of the mouth.
It is strange that dolphins are friendly to men, and for thousands of years, there are many stories about dolphins and men. In the 19th century, in a dangerous part of the sea near New Zealand, there was a dolphin. The seamen liked him very much and gave him a very good name, Jack. From 1871 to 1903, Jack met all the ships and boats in the area and showed them the way. In 1903 a passenger on a boat with the name of The Penguin shot(拍照) a long time in the area. Sonny opened his eyes wide, "Do you mean next time when I'm entering for the 60-metre race I should wish that Billy, Tony and Sandy would all fall asleep halfway?"
I was shocked, "But the tortoise didn't wish that the hare would fall asleep!"
"He must have wished that,"Sonny said," Otherwise how could he be so foolish as to race with the hare? He knew very well the hare ran a hundred times faster than he himself did."
"He didn't have such a wish," I insisted. "He won the race by perseverance, by pushing on steadily."
Sonny thought for a while. "That's a lie," he said. "He won it because he was lucky. If the hare hadn't happened to fall asleep, the tortoise would never have won the race. He could be as steady as you like, or a hundred times steadier, but he'd never have won the race. That's for sure."
