Many years ago, there was a young girl named Pepsy. She thought she was bad-looking and didn’t feel like going out. But there were times when she had to go out shopping. She was unhappy and sometimes even angry when people looked at her face.
One night, a strange old woman came to Pepsy’s house. She said to Pepsy, “My child, let me help you. Put this magic (有魔力的) flower in your hair, and you’ll become beautiful.”
Pepsy did what the woman said. Something strange happened. Pepsy was surprised to see herself so beautiful in the mirror. She ran happily out of her house. She walked on the street and smiled at everyone. She became very friendly and nice, very different from what she was before. Almost all the people said, “Pepsy is so beautiful today!”

As one of the 13th-generation disciples of Chen-style tai chi, I set up a tai chi club for local primary students. My tai chi program lasted for 10 weeks, with classes taking place every Tuesday.
I have been in several cultural exchange programs before, but I haven’t really worked with little kids. It was a little intimidating for me at first. Kids are extremely noisy and active. It was challenging enough just to take control of the class. In the beginning, we could only go over a few gestures during each class, as I spent most of my time working on class discipline (纪律).
However, as the class went on, we grew more and more familiar with each other. Slowly, I found the fun and sense of achievement that lies under the kids’ nervousness and tiredness. Watching the kids learn tai chi under my instruction was exciting. Nothing made me happier than seeing their smiles after learning a new gesture. With each punch, kick and stretch, I could sense their progress and their interest in learning. They asked me many questions about tai chi.
This experience also improved my leadership. I realized that it was important to unite the whole class and encourage kids to help one another when they meet difficulties. I will try my best to spread tai chi culture here.

“If you have a school problem, just tell me. When I was a little girl, sometimes some boys called me terrible names.” Ollie looked up and asked, “Why did they do that?”
“What’s your problem?” It took Ollie a long time to reply. “Yes, it is. They call me Mini Me, just because I’m a bit small. And two boys often shove(推撞)me around .... and it hurts.”
Mom asked, “Did you tell your teacher?” “No. That would make things worse.” “Bullying(欺凌)is wrong, Ollie. Maybe we can talk to your teacher together. ”Ollie thought for a long time and finally decided to have a try.
Ollie and his mom met up with Ollie’s teacher after school, with nobody around. The teacher was glad that Ollie told her all about it.
The next day at school, Ollie’s teacher told the class, “A lot of schools have No Bullying projects. I’d like to start one in our school.” Ollie’s teacher started their project: Speak Up & Stand Up! All the children agreed that the rules were great: Tell an adult if you see bullying; Stand up for others.
The school is becoming a much nicer place for all the children. Nobody knows the reason.

In the morning, we went camping along a path in Green Natural Park. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.
However, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o'clock, it was dark and windy. Soon, there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide.
Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining, There were hours to go before we reached the campsite (野营地). It was even worse that our small compass (指南针) showed that we went to the wrong way. We had lost our way!
We had to make a quick decision as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could set up a tent to hide
in, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were unable to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, chatted and waited inside the tent. At about five o'clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us had been very tired.
This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I've learned from this trip is the importance of team spirit.

Why is garbage sorting a big problem? It’s because there is too much garbage these days. It is bad for our soil (土壤), air and water. Actually we can make use of some garbage again. And first, we need to sort our garbage.
For example, if you put an old battery (电池) into the “harmful waste (有害垃圾)” bin, people can use it to make new batteries. But if you don’t, the battery will end up somewhere else. Then, it will pollute the environment (污染环境).
Can’t factories sort garbage for us? Yes, they can. But it takes many workers to do this and costs lots of money. If we all sort our own garbage, things will become much easier. Recyclable garbage includes (包含) paper, books, boxes, newspapers, and glass bottles. Harmful garbage includes lamps, batteries, nail polish (指甲油) and other things with harmful chemicals (有害化学物质). Wet garbage usually comes from the kitchen, such as food, vegetables, flowers, leaves (树叶) and eggshells (蛋壳). Dry garbage is anything you cannot put into the other three bins. It includes pens, toilet paper, tape (胶带), hair, and towels (毛巾).
