Behind Zibo’s sudden fame are the efforts and services of the local government, as well as a good fame of businesses in the city, with millions of reviews from visitors who share their experience online. Today I’d like to share my experience to try Zibo barbecue with you on my blog (博客).
Recently, the local food has become so popular that people all over China travel there to taste it. On May Day, my father and I also went to Zibo in Shandong to try Zibo barbecue (烧烤).
At 5 p.m., we arrived at the restaurant. My father had booked a table two days earlier, or there wouldn’t be any seats for us. There are some differences between Zibo’s barbecue and the ones in other cities. Zibo’s barbecue restaurants have a small grill (烤架) on each table. People need to cook on the grill by themselves. When the food is ready, you put it onto a small pancake, and then add green onions and sauce before eating.
People in the restaurant didn’t know each other before. But we just talked naturally about daily life and sang together. The boss of the restaurant even danced. Some local people even put off their orders when they heard there weren’t enough seats. They wanted tourists from other places to have the chance to eat.
Our experience to try Zibo barbecue made us learn about the popularity and success of Zibo.

A new standard(标准) for labor(劳动) education has recently came out. Students in primary and middle school will have at least one class a week to experience different kinds of labor so as to learn different life skills and even job skills.
In order to develop students’ all-around abilities, students from different grades are asked to complete various tasks(任务), from cooking to growing vegetables, and from school labor classes to community volunteer services. For example, students from Grade 3 and Grade 4 will learn how to wash their own clothes, help clean the classroom and even try planting vegetables. Fifth- and sixth-graders will learn to cook two or three common dishes and plant at least two kinds of vegetables. As for middle school students, in addition to cooking meals on their own, they also need to learn fixing some machines, do some voluntary work in the community and even make one or two traditional handicrafts. These courses make teachers and students quiet interested.
This move can greatly enrich Chinese students’ life and hopefully build their character through labor. Compared to students from the US, Chinese students haven’t paid enough attention to the courses which require hands-on ability. According to a 2019 report, Chinese kids only do 12 minutes of practical activity each day, while US kids do 1.2 hours each day, China Daily reported. Meanwhile, the standard also calls on families to take part in students’ labor education. They will make housework lists to help students be more independent. Hopefully, students can take care of themselves better in the future.

A team of Canadian scientists did an experiment (实验) with 22 boys and 17 girls in grades one through three. They first tested their reading abilities (能力). Then they asked them to read books that were somewhat difficult for them. Each child read aloud. After they finished the first page, scientists asked the children if they would like to read more or just stop there. They found that children spent more time reading and showed more interest when a dog was in the room. “Dogs can help children feel more confident,” scientists said. Dogs are good listeners. They won’t mind if children make mistakes. They won’t stop children, either. They only stay quiet by the side of the children.

He talked about his difficulties and how he cared about the country and ordinary people, so some people said Du’s poems give us a closer look at history. That’s why many people enjoyed them for a long time.

Jim and Della had two possessions which they were proud of. One was Jim’s gold watch that was from his father and his grandfather. The other was Della’s beautiful hair. It fell about her, and reached below her knee.
Della put on her old brown jacket and her old brown hat. Then she went out of the door and down the stairs to the street.

All that may make you angry. Although it is polite for us to keep quiet and bear it, sometimes it is bad for our health.
If you let out a yell (喊叫), it is good for your health. “Chinese people have made this as a part of traditional medicine,” Mrs. He, a 60-year-old woman from Hangzhou said. She said that her parents taught her to do that. It’s a part of Chinese culture.
Mrs. He is a group of yelling people. Each morning, she and some of her friends climb the top of a hill, and yell before starting their daily exercise. The yelling is good exercise for their lungs (肺). They also believe it’s fun. “Sometimes I yell out and others yell back,” said Mrs. Gu, another yeller. “We all laugh and it makes us happy.”
Dr. Peter Calafinra, an American doctor agrees that yelling can have a positive mental influence. (积极的心理影响)

These reckless (鲁莽的) behaviors have caught the public’s attention.
In the first half of 2017, food deliverymen had 76 traffic accidents in Shanghai, according to Shanghai Public Security Bureau. That means every two and a half days, a food deliveryman will die or get hurt on the road.
What makes deliverymen take such risks? The strict rules of the food delivery service companies and the anxious (焦急的) customers may be the answer.
Many companies will fine(罚款) a deliveryman up to 2,000 yuan, if he fails to deliver an order on time, reported China Daily. Fines also go to those who get bad reviews(差评) from customers(顾客).
To solve the problem, food delivery service companies need to improve their incentive systems (激励制度), noted CRI Online.
Some cities are also taking action. Shanghai has asked companies to train their deliverymen on traffic rules and safety. Now in Shenzhen, if a deliveryman gets caught breaking traffic rules more than twice, then he will be banned from driving food service delivery vehicles (交通工具) for a whole year .

It was during the school summer holidays and workmen were building a new driveway and garage (车库) beside our house. It meant to add something new to our home. When I watched the workman, I came up with an idea—I would build a car to drive into the garage in celebration of it. I told my mother and began with my plans. But I couldn't find the right things for making the car, so I gave up and sadly spent several days doing nothing. My mother noticed that I had stopped working and asked me why. I explained and she suggested that maybe I should change my plan to fit the things I had, rather than give up.
And that's just what I did. I found small pieces of wood in my father's workshop and made my car from anything that was lying around the house. When I found a small engine from one of my old model planes, I added that. The power came from a battery (电池) I found in a box.
By the time the garage was finished, so was my car. I called my family together outside the house, started the engine and put the car on the driveway. It was fast, and I had to run to the garage to prevent it from hitting the new door. My family began to cheer and I smiled proudly.
Thanks to my mother, I learned the value of continuing to do things, especially something difficult. Soon I was making plans for my next project: a robot!
