I got the idea to start Amazon 16 years ago. I came across the fact that the Internet usage was growing at 2300 percent per year. I’d never seen or heard of anything that grew that fast, and the idea of building an online bookstore with millions of titles was very exciting to me, I had just turned 30 years old , and I’d been married for a year, I told my wife MacKenzie that I wanted to quit my job and go to do this crazy thing that probably wouldn’t work since most start-ups don’t , and I wasn’t sure what to expect, MacKenzie told me I should go for it. As a young boy, I’d been a garage inventor, I’d always wanted to be an inventor, and she wanted me to follow my passion.
I was working at a financial firm in New York City with a bunch of very smart people, and I had a brilliant boss that I much admired. I went to my boss and told him I wanted to start a company selling books on the Internet. He took me on a long walk in Central Park, listened carefully to me, and finally said, “That sounds like a really good idea, but it would be an even better idea for someone who didn’t already have a good job.” That logic made some sense to me, and he convinced me to think about it for 48 hours before making a final decision. Seen in that light, it really was a difficult choice, but ultimately, I decided I had to give it a shot. I didn’t think I’d regret trying and failing. And I suspected I would always be haunted by a decision to not try at all.
After much consideration, I took the less safe path to follow my passion, and I’m proud of that choice, For all of us, in the end, we are our choice.

The beauty of rereading depends on the idea that our connection with the book is based on our own experience. It’s true, the older I get, the more I feel time has wings. But with reading, it’s all about the present time. Because reading is a kind of communication between author and reader. Each has to try the best.
There are two books I reread during my spare time. The first, which I read these days, is Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast. Published in 1964, it’s about his memory of 1920s Paris. The words are rousing. I can get energy when I am down. The other is The Unwinding which was on the list of 10 best books of the 22nd Shenzhen Reading Month. The reason why I like it is that its changeable plot helps me think deeply.
As for my children, they have more time to read. They often give an unexpected ending for a story. This makes us laugh or feel sorry for the characters. After a book, there must be a drama in my home. It’s the sweet family time.
Thanks to the valuable rereading time, it helps us grow and better understand what company(陪伴) is. I believe that the more we read, the better we will be.

One of the biggest myths is that we only use 10% of our brains. The next part of the myth is that if we can learn to use the rest of our brains, then we’ll be much smarter. People say this all the time, but it’s not true! The truth is that we don’t know everything about the brain, but we know that each part of it has an important function (功能). So researchers think the “10% myth” silly.
The other most popular myth is about the right brain and the left brain. According to this myth, people who often use the right brain are more creative. People who often use the left brain are better at math and science. This is as popular as the 10% myth, and it’s also wrong. In 2013, a study at an American university examined (研究) the right brain and left brain myth. The study shows we use the left brain as much as the right brain.
It’s true that we use different parts of our brains for different things. We use our left brain for language more, and our right brain when we need to pay attention.
Next let’s look at a few interesting facts about the brain. First of all, the brain feels no pain. Second, about 75% of the brain is made of water. It’s also the fattest organ (器官) in your body. Here’s another interesting fact about the brain. Around the time you are 18 years old, it stops growing.
