1 . Every Sunday afternoon, villagers in Jiantouzhou, Hunan, can hear some music when they walk by Li Shuyou’s house. In the house, some children _________ traditional Chinese instruments (乐器), like erhu and sanxian.

Zhang Guimei, now 66, is the headmaster of this school. She began ______ in Huaping-one of China’s poorest areas twenty years ago. The teacher wondered why many girls in her class stopped coming to school. After some time, Zhang learned that they were from very poor ______. Robert Lee grew up in New York City.
