1 . American students can join many kinds of clubs (社团) in their school. There are about 40 to 50 different ones. There are academic (学术的) clubs, art clubs, sports clubs and so on.

In an academic club, students can learn about science, maths, computers, writing and more. In the art club, the students can learn to draw. If you like sports, you can join the sports club. It has a basketball team, a football team, a tennis team and so on. When the new term begins every year, students can choose (选择) to join clubs. They only need to spend 4 to 5 dollars on it every year. If the clubs need money, they might try to sell something. For example, the cooking club may make and sell cookies to other students. The art club may sell their paintings.

American students think that student clubs are very important to their development (发展).

2 . Healthy eating doesn’t just mean what you eat, but how you eat. Here is some advice（建议）on healthy eating.

Eat with others. It can help you to see others’ healthy eating habits. If you usually eat with your parents, you will find that the food you eat is more delicious.

Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are really hungry. Have a glass of water to see if you are thirsty, sometimes you are just thirsty, you need no food. Stop eating before you feel full.

Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After you don’t eat for the past ten hours, your body needs food to get you going. You will be smarter after eating breakfast.

Eat healthy snacks（点心）like fruit, yogurt or cheese. We all need snacks sometimes. In fact, it’s a good idea to eat two healthy snacks between your three meals. This doesn’t mean that you can eat a bag of chips but not a meal.

Don’t eat dinner late. With our busy life, we always put off（推迟）eating dinner until the last minute. Try to eat dinner at least(至少) 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance to digest most of the food before you rest for the next 8-10 hours.

5 . Many families do not eat very healthy food now. If you do not eat good food, then you will not be healthy. Doctor Smith from a hospital says that people need(需要) to eat a lot of healthy food in this order:

1. Rice and noodles;

2. Fruit (such as oranges and apples) and vegetables (such as carrots, tomatoes and potatoes);

3. Meat (such as beef, chicken, fish and pork).

Doctor Smith says that people should(应该) not eat unhealthy food like hamburgers, candy, chocolate or ice cream, or have some drinks such as cola. He says that they should drink milk, juice or water.

So remember: eat well, stay healthy, and don't get fat!

6 . Many people like to travel (旅行) by plane, but I don’t like it. Because an airport (飞机场) is usually far from the city. You have to get there early and wait for (等待) hours for the plane to take off (起飞), it is often late. You can’t open the windows. You can’t choose (选择) the food. Planes are fast (快的) , but it takes hours to go out of the airport and into the city.

I like traveling by train. I think the trains are safe. Train stations are usually in cities. When you are late for a train, you can take another (另一个) one. You can walk around in the train, and open the windows. You can see many interesting things on your way. But sometimes it takes a little more time.

9 . This is our friend, Eric. We are in the same class of school. He is fourteen years old, and he is from America. He is strong. He has black hair and two big blue eyes. Now, robots are able to help people do some housework. They can also help the doctors do the difficult operations, play chess with people and some other things.

It is really funny to have a cooking robot. It can cook all the dishes on the menu(菜单). What you only need to do is just choosing your favourite dish and waiting for two to four minutes. That’s so cool!

In the future, the robot will be a home helper. He can look after us like a nurse, protect(保护) us like a policeman or give us lesson like a teacher. He will become parts of our family and help us any time.
