2 . Gather together some good friends and take a stroll (溜达) through streets. This is what many youngsters in China enjoy doing when they visit a new city. To them, citywalk means “roaming around (漫步) the city” on foot. They often explore old buildings or boutique shops (精品店), and enjoy a cup of coffee or local snacks. Citywalk offers them a way to interact (互动) with a city. It also gives them a chance to meet new people.

It can be a guided trip for a small group of people or simply a stroll for one or two. They follow one rule: avoid famous scenic spots and big crowds.

In China, the citywalk trend has spread from Beijing and Shanghai to smaller cities. Some organizers invite folk culture researchers to act as tour guides. Xiao Yiyi is a young woman who lives in Changsha. She is exploring new possibilities in the tourism industry. Recently she launched six citywalk routes in different cities. Her aim is to provide experiences for visitors to “walk in open-air museums”.

Her Changsha route includes more unusual sights, such as historical architecture from the 19th century and old alleys (小巷). Xiao Yiyi said her group is usually made up of about a dozen people. Her events last about half a day.

Some cities, such as Beijing, have included citywalk in their plans to promote cultural tourism. Shanghai has created citywalk routes and is trying to help tourists reach more remote places by public transport.

At present, the idea of citywalk is new to most Chinese people. However, people working in the tourist industry believe it has a bright future. Many tour guides are also increasing their online influence. They share their citywalk experiences to attract potential (潜在的) customers.

How to reduce stress

Learn to relax. Overwork (过量工作) is the main reason why so many students feel tired and stressed. Cut down some of the work you need to do each day so that you can do the most important things well.     1     This might mean reading a good book, listening to music, going for a walk and taking a relaxing shower.

Get a good night’s sleep.     2     If you stay up late and need to get up early for school the next day, you may not be able to concentrate (集中注意力) on the things you need to do.

Do exercise and eat well. Don’t rush through your meals.     3     Eat health y food instead. And try to do exercise often.

    4     Some people are optimistic (乐观的), while others are not. Choose optimistic people as your friends and spend more time with them and you will be as happy as they are.

    5     Find out the best idea in your mind. Believe yourself. You are able to solve problems.

4 . You must have heard of drug-sniffing dogs (缉毒犬). But how about“drug sniffing squirrels”(松鼠)? Recently, Chongqing police have successfully trained six squirrels to detect drugs. They began their work in early February.

The squirrels have a sharp sense of smell. They can smell food hidden under snow. Being so small,they can search for drugs in the places where dogs may not be able to reach, such as in narrow or high places. The squirrels are trained to use their claws (爪子) to scratch at boxes to tell the police when they find the drugs, according to Chongqing police.

“Our self-developed training system can be used to train different kinds of animals,” Yin Jin, a police dog trainer in Chongqing, said. The key is to develop the animals' conditioned reflex (条件).

First, the animals need to be familiar with (熟悉) the smell of the drug. The trainers can put pieces of cloth with the smell of the drug next to the animals’ food. Next, the animals learn to search for the drug in different situations, such as from a large number of bags or among people walking in crowds. If the animals successfully detect the drug, they are rewarded with snacks and other food. After they are trained for some time, the conditioned reflex will be built and the animals will search for drugs naturally.

8 . Sometimes people come into your life and you know at once that they are sure to be there. They serve you on purpose, teach you a lesson or help you find out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be: your classmates, neighbors, teachers, long-lost friends or even a real stranger. But you know that every moment they influence your life in some serious ways.

Sometimes things happen to you. They may seem terrible, painful and unfair at first. But later you get to know that without overcoming those difficulties, you would have never got to know your further ability and strength. Everything happens for a reason and nothing happens by chance or with good or bad luck.

The people you meet influence your life, and the success and failure you experience create who you are. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the most poignant but the most important ones.

Enjoy every day even every moment, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked to before, and really listen to them. You should set your sights high, hold your head up, and believe you are a great one.

You can make anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

10 . March 22 is World Water Day. Believed to be the source (源头) of all life, water plays a great role in the beginning of Chinese civilization (文明) and has inspired wise ideas in Chinese philosophy (哲学).

Chinese civilization is one of the world’s ancient river civilizations. It began thousands of years ago along the Yellow and Yangtze rivers, linking the culture to water from its beginning.

However, the way people and water get along has two sides. Water is highly important for life and growing things, but if we can’t control it, it can cause big problems. Knowing the strong power of water, Chinese people have always tried to use it in the best way possible. For example, Yu, the first ruler of the Xia Dynasty (朝代), controlled floods by changing and digging the waterways so that the water could easily go into the sea.

The Dujiangyan irrigation (灌溉) system in Sichuan was cleverly built. It makes full use of the natural features of the area without harming the environment.

Water is also given philosophical meanings to educate Chinese people and rule the country. According to Xunzi, Confucius (孔子) believed water had qualities such as justice and courage. He once said that: “He who is wise loves water; he who is virtuous loves mountains.” So, Confucianism suggests that people should learn from water and train their sense of morality (道德感). Inspired by water, Laozi gave birth to the idea of “overcoming hardness with softness and non-action”. These ideas later inspired rulers to follow the rules of nature and respect the will of the people.
