文章大意:本文主要讲述了在云南丽江的导游张宇18年来从未接到过投诉,及其负责的工作态度和专业的工作能力。
1 . 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

In 18 years working as a tour guide in Lijiang, Yunnan Province, Zhang Yu has never received a complaint (投诉).

That’s amazing for someone who has long worked in an industry where dealing with complaints is part of the job. In 2018, Zhang became the first tour guide from Yunnan to win a National May Day Labor Medal (全国五一劳动奖章).

Zhang didn’t let this win go to his head. “The medal doesn’t just belong to me. It’s for all the guides in Lijiang. I’m proud to be a tour guide, and I receive the medal on behalf of the whole industry,” he said.

At the Yunnan Lijiang White Deer Travel Agency, Zhang is nicknamed “the fire extinguisher (灭火器)”. That’s because whenever there is a problem, he is always the one to solve it.

Zhang is always ready to learn. Whenever he notices something new on his trips, he likes to learn about it. “I’m not required to be an expert in every area, but I do need to know a lot of things. Because if a tourist asks something he doesn’t know, I hope I won’t let him down,” Zhang said.

To better be able to communicate with people with disabilities, Zhang learned sign language. He also learned some Chinese dialects (方言), as well as English and Thai. “If I communicate with tourists in their language, they will feel more comfortable,” Zhang said.

Zhang believes guides help to influence the first impression (印象) that tourists have of a place and its people. He also thinks guides should take the lead when it comes to spreading culture. “In my opinion, being a tour guide is not just a job. It comes with a social responsibility and something meaningful for society,” Zhang said.

2 . ①There is one thing in the world that’s smaller than your fingernail. But without it, almost all of our electronic products might not work. It’s the microchip! It is one of the most important inventions in human history. Here is some information for you to learn it.

②What are microchips? Don’t be confused with potato chips. Microchips are very small electronic devices (设备) people use to keep and deal with information. A microchip is a set of connected electronic components (组件) that are imprinted (刻) on a very small chip. There are mainly two kinds of microchips: logic chips and memory chips.

③Logic chips are the “brains” of electronic devices — they deal with information to finish a task. Memory chips store information.

④When asked who invented the microchip, you may be surprised that two men invented almost the same thing at nearly the same time. But they didn’t even know what each other was working on. They were US engineers Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce. From 1958 to 1959, both of them were working on an answer to the same question: how to shrink the devices.

⑤In designing (设计) an electronic device likes a computer, it is always necessary to increase the number of components. However, as there are more components, the machines will be big and heavy. How to include these components in a smart way was the problem they wanted to solve. In the end, Kilby used germanium (锗) while Noyce used silicon (硅) to make their microchips, which can include more components in a smaller size.

⑥Where are microchips used? We can see them in many electronic products, from computers to cell phones, TVs, cameras, cars and airplanes. They are also used in GPS devices and ID cards. However, it’s not easy to make them. A chip may need to “travel” to many countries and areas before it becomes the final product.

2. Which statement is True according to the passage?

3 .

Why did Chinese people have more than one name in ancient times?

In ancient China, people’s names had three parts, their family name, given name and courtesy name. Take famous poet Li Bai for example. His family name, which came from his father’s name, was Li. His given name was Bai, and his courtesy name was Taibai.

People used their given names when they were among family members. But in social life, they called each other by their courtesy names to show respect. This was mostly done among people of similar age. If you were talking about yourself, or if your elders were talking about you, the given name would be used instead of the courtesy name.

Men would get their courtesy names when they turned 20. It was a symbol of adulthood(成年礼). Women would get their courtesy names after getting married.

One’s courtesy name often had something to do with one’s given name. For example, the name of Mencius was Meng Ke. His courtesy name was Ziyu. Both Ke and Ziyu mean “carriage(马车)”. Zhuge Liang’s given name was Liang, which means “bright”. His courtesy name was Kongming, which means “very bright”.

5 . 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

Most people want to be happy, but few know how to find happiness. 4.Money and success alone do not bring lasting (持久的) feeling of happiness and satisfaction. Aristotle, a Greek thinker, said, “Happiness depends on ourselves”. In other words, we make our own happiness. Here are a few suggestions to help you be happier.

The first secret of happiness is to enjoy the simple things in life. Too often, we spend so much time thinking about the future—for example, getting into college or getting a good job—that we fail to enjoy the present. You should enjoy life’s simple pleasure, such as reading a good book, listening to your favorite music, or spending time with close friends. 5.朋友对我们的生活有很大的影响。People who have several friends often live happier and healthier lives.

Another secret to living a happy life is to be active. Many people go dancing or play sports. People can forget about their problems and only think about the activities.

Finally, many people find happiness in helping others. Studies show that people feel good when they spend their time helping others. If you want to feel happier, do good things for someone. You can help a friend with his or her studies, go shopping to buy food for an elderly person, or simply help out around the house by washing the dishes.

6 . In the universe, as we know, there is the sun, the moon, the earth and many stars. Through our geography lessons, we know the earth goes around the sun, and the moon goes around the earth. We have day and night because the earth keeps turning all the time. When our part of the earth turns to the sun, it is day. When our part of the earth turns away from the sun, it is night.

Just because the moon is closer to the earth than the sun, it looks much bigger than the sun. Big things look smaller when they are farther, and small things also look bigger when they are nearer.

The sun is bright enough to give out very strong light. The moon can’t give out any light at all, but it looks quite bright too. Why? In fact, the light from the moon comes from the sun. The moon looks much bigger and brighter than the stars. But actually the stars are much bigger and brighter than the moon. They look smaller than the moon also because they are farther away from the earth.

There are still many other planets in the solar system (太阳系). All of them move round the sun. But of all these planets, only on the earth there are living things and people can only live on the earth too. At 9:00 am on October 15th, 2003, Chinese pilot Yang Liwei was sent up to space. He stayed there for 21 hours. It was the first time for Chinese to get into space.
