1 . Do you get angry when a friend borrows your favorite thing and then breaks it? Do you get angry when your team loses an important game? Do you get angry when your teacher gives you too much homework? Do you get angry when your best friend does not wait for you after school? Anger is a kind of feeling.

Usually, your body will tell you when you are angry. For example, you breathe faster, your face turns red, and you may want to break something or hit someone, but sometimes you hide (隐藏) your anger. For example, you are really angry, but you may keep it to yourself. The worst thing is to do nothing but keep quiet. If you do this, maybe you will get a headache or stomachache.

So what can we do when we get angry? In fact, it’s normal for you to get angry sometimes. But anger must be let out in the right way. Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry? A research points out that when we show our anger in this way, we can’t probably get on well with our friends and our family. The more time we keep being angry, the worse result we’ll get.

One good way is to keep a record. Every time you get angry, write down why you are angry. Look at it later and you will find it felt like all the anger inside you go away from your body. Besides, ▲ When you get angry, you can talk about it with other people and share your problems with them, such as your friends, a teacher, etc. Last, do some controlled breathing or find some physical activities. Doing some housework or exercise helps with feelings of anger.

Anger is a normal feeling. Knowing it and learning to solve it in a right way is important.

3 . There’s much to see under the sea, but you need to remember that light behaves differently in water than in air. The objects appear closer to you than they exactly are. You might find yourself reaching out to touch something and completely miss it.

Objects underwater will appear larger than they would on the surface, too. Be careful not to tell any stories about the big fish that got away. That fish might not be so big after all! It’s just because sometimes things can seem to be as much as about 33 percent bigger in water!

What’s more, in deeper water, colors just don’t seem as bright. In fact, it looks as if some colors are missing. Remember the color of an object results from the wavelengths (波长) of light that are reflected (反射) from its surface. And light is taken in as it moves down through the water.

Swimmers wear wet suits to keep warm underwater. Let’s take a bright red, yellow, and blue wet suit as an example. These colors are hard to miss on the surface of water. Watch carefully the changes in color as you descend in the water. The red part now looks almost black because the red light wavelengths, the longest among these three colors, are missing. As you go down deeper, the same thing will happen to the yellow part and in the end to the blue part. Even at a place of about 6 to 9 meters underwater, you will look terrible, like a ghost（鬼怪)! And you have to wait for your return to the surface to enjoy the bright colors again.

These days, Chinese children are sometimes busier on weekends than weekdays because they have to take so many after-school classes. 8 . The world is changing all the time. Life today is getting easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but the changes have brought some new problems. One of the biggest problems is pollution. We can see it, smell it, drink it, and even hear it.

People are building the Earth but they are also polluting it at the same time. The more people there are, the more pollution we have. People always take away farmlands to build houses or factories. They kill animals to eat them or make money with their fur. They throw waste things here and there and dump waste water into rivers directly.

Now air pollution is still the biggest one in all kinds of pollution. It is bad for all living things. That’s mainly because of the heavy traffic. Some scientists say it will be much better if people ride bikes instead of driving cars. When you are riding, there is no pollution. But in many countries, people don’t want to go to work by bike. It is not because bikes are expensive or people are tired if they ride to work, but because the roads for cars become better than before. More people put away their bikes and go to work by car or by bus. Then things are getting worse and worse.

9 . Scientists will put some robot (机器人) fish into the sea near Spain this year. These robot fish will help people find out the pollution in the water. “If the robot fish are able to finish their work successfully the team of scientists hopes the fish will be used in rivers, lakes and seas around the world.”

The robot fish are about 1.5 meters long. There is a detector (探测器) in their bodies. It can find the pollution (污染) in the water, and then the robot fish will eat part of it.

They can “swim” for eight hours in the sea freely and send back information to people on the beach. After their energy runs down, they will go back to the beach by themselves. There are five robot fish altogether. Each costs about 29, 000 dollars. They are part of a three-year project between the engineering company BMT Group and Essex University in southeastern England.

10 . Colors can affect our feelings, so knowing the secrets of colors can help us choose the right colors in our homes.

It’s normal to see red in Chinese rooms. It’s our favorite color. It means happiness and luck. But if your bedroom is also red, you probably can’t sleep well. It’s an active color and makes us want to exercise.

Orange is a good choice for dining room. People like getting together and talking to each other in an orange room.

If you are a student, ask your parents to paint your study yellow. Yellow can make you think more quickly and more carefully. You may become more confident about yourself.
