文章大意:本文主要讲了成功的两个公式,重点强调了持久的行动在实现梦想中的关键作用。

5 . Each of us has dreams and goals for our future. What makes us study and made progress each day is closely connected with our personal dream and goal.

But why do you have dreams and goals, you still end up with nothing? What separates(区分)successful people from dreamers is their persistent(锲而不舍的)action. When you learn your lessons at school, you must work hard and not give up. You will often find some of your lessons very hard. Try and keep trying. And you’ll be sure to successfully deal with any difficulty you meet with. If we have a hard lesson today, let us try our best to learn it well and then we shall be prepared for a harder one tomorrow.

This is the famous formula(公式)for success:

Dream→Believe→Achieve

Most people have what they want(Dream)and think they can realize their dreams(Believe). And then they do nothing. They just imagine their dreams can come true. When they get tired of waiting and lose a lot, they say angrily how terrible their life is.

I personally believe that if you really want to achieve your dreams and goals in life, you have to add one thing to your success formula:

Dream→Believe→Act→Achieve

For me, act is the most important thing for success and that’s to Take Persistent Action(Act). If you say“I can’t do it” and give up, you can never do anything valuable(有价值的). However, “I’ll try” creates wonders. Let’s remember that there will be obstacles in our life. We must face them bravely and solve them. Success is not something that falls from the sky. Most successful people made their dreams come true because of their persistent action.

Please remember: Action is the bridge that connects our dreams and goals to reality.

1. What do you need to do when you find your lessons very hard?
A.To ask other people for help.B.To try my best to learn them well.
C.To keep trying another one.D.To get ready for a harder one.
2. Which does the writer add to the famous formula?
A.Act.B.Achieve.C.Connect.D.Create.
3. What does the underlined word “obstacles” probably mean in the passage?
A.Dangers.B.Mistakes.C.Choices.D.Problems.
4. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Keeping on Doing Something Valuable
B.Studying Hard and Making Great Progress
C.Realizing Dreams with Persistent Action
D.Separating Successful People from Dreamers

It seems that food deliverymen are always in a rush. They wear blue, red or yellow helmets(头盔)and many of them don’t follow traffic rules. They drive on the wrong side of the road and run red lights. They use mobile phones while driving.

However, not everything goes well with food deliverymen. In the first half of last year, food deliverymen had 76 traffic accidents in Shanghai. That means every two and a half days, a food deliveryman will die or get hurt on the road.

What makes deliverymen take such risks? The strict rules of the food delivery service companies and the anxious customers(焦虑的顾客)may be the answer. Many companies will fine(罚款)a deliveryman up to 2,000 yuan if he fails to deliver an order on time, reported by China Daily. Fines also go to those who get bad reviews(评价)from customers.

To solve the problem, food delivery service companies need to improve their incentive systems(激励制度), noted CRI Online. Some cities are also taking action. Shanghai has asked companies to train their deliverymen on traffic rules and safety. Now in Shenzhen, if a deliveryman gets caught breaking traffic rules more than twice, then he will be banned(禁止)from driving food service delivery vehicles(车辆)for a whole year.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了红色在中国的文化意涵。

10 . In Chinese culture, the color red stands for many good things, for example, happiness. But writing names and letters with red pens is usually avoided. Why?

In ancient times, red was the symbol of power. Not everyone could write with red pens—only emperors. They would reply to officials’ memorials(奏折)with red pens. The red ink that emperors used was made of cinnabar(朱砂).

Writing with red pens was also related to death. In ancient China, the criminals who were sentenced to death(被判死刑)signed their names with red pens. The records of criminals’ names were all written in red words. Names on the tombstones(墓碑)were red as well. Therefore, it was thought to be unlucky to write names with red pens. Since red words carry bad meanings, people don’t write letters with red pens.
