The tea plant has green leaves and white flowers. At certain seasons the young leaves are gathered. They are then dried, rolled, and packed in boxes. Two kinds of tea, black and green, are most popular. The difference in color between these two teas is due to different ways of drying the leaf. |
c Once or twice a little leaf was heard to cry, as leaves often do, when a gentle wind is blowing. And the twig said, “What is the matter, little leaf?” “The wind,” said the leaf, “just told me that one day it would pull me off, and throw me on the ground to die.” The twig told it to the branch, and the branch told it to the tree. When the tree heard it, it rustled all over, and sent word back to the trembling leaf. “Do not be afraid,” it said. “Hold on tight, and you shall not go off till you are ready.” | d Nearly all flowers turn towards the sunlight, as if they love it. This can be seen by watching plants that are standing near a window. The flowers will all bend towards the sunlight, if the pots are allowed always to stand in the same position. N: Hi, Dan! Please let us know about yourself!
D: I’m 31 years old from Canada. At the age of seven, I was hurt in the back of the head by a boy, leaving me blind in my left eye. In 2008, my right eye started to go red and the doctor told me that it would also be blind later.
N: Where does your passion (热情) for travel come from?
D: Both of my parents are travel lovers and I am greatly influenced by them. What’s more, besides my family, I travel for the people. I know people are curious (好奇) about my travels and I love sharing my stories with them.
N: Being unable to see, you have to face many difficulties. How do you manage to overcome them? Do you always have someone with you?
D: My travel is nothing different from most other travelers’, just slower. Usually help is available but I’m unwilling to accept it and I try my hardest to direct myself. For example, I use an iPhone to take a photo of the train times and then make it larger. Thus, I can move at my own speed.
N: What will be your next destination (目的地)?
D: I don’t know what my next destination will be after this trip in Europe is over. I’m really interested in Australia, New Zealand, and South America. But to tell you the truth, I think it’s time for me to get around to travel to my own country. It’s really a pity that Canadians travel the world because traveling in our own country is so hard and expensive.
