Many students have already had clear ideas about what jobs they would like to have in the future. To find out how different their choices are, we made a survey in Green High School. The following diagram shows the results of the survey.

6 .     1     “If I don’t understand what my teacher is explaining in the science class, I ask him to say it again,” says Anna Lee. “Asking more also helps a lot.”

    2     “When a teacher asks us to do a lot of homework,” says Dave Roman, “I will draw up a timetable and plan to do it little by little, so it isn’t so tiring.”

    3     One student put a vocabulary (词汇) list on the wall of the bathroom. He learned a new word every day while brushing his teeth. Another student used the time to remember biology terms (术语) while practicing running.

    4     In high school, Mike played football, painted and was in the band. “I was so busy that I couldn’t waste time looking for a pencil or missing paper. I kept everything in order.” he says.

    5     Christine is an excellent student at the university. If her math teacher asks her to do five problems, she does ten. If the history teacher asks her to read five pages, she reads ten. “Part of learning is practicing,” she says, “and the more you practice, the more you learn.”

7 . It is interesting to know what people of different nations like to be best.

    1     In France, when a woman enters a cafe or restaurant, she is freely discussed, not only about her looks but about her past and future as well, whether she is beautiful or plain. There is no better way for a woman to get back her self-confidence than a walk in the streets of Paris or Marseilles, and women really like that.

    2     In Italy, people love talking. They sit in cafes, exchanging news and discussing politics. They do not care too much to ask questions about the family, income (收入) and private life of anybody who happens to be there.

    3     The Swiss eat as a pastime (消遣). Ladies walk into a teashop, eat a couple of ice creams and a large piece of chocolate cake, and then complain about their weight.

    4     For Americans, the greatest interest is said to be the push of buttons (按钮). They push a button in the lift, they push a button for cigarettes, chewing gums, stamps, even for life insurance (保险). You can even push a button to get married and another button to get divorced (离婚).

    5     In England, waiting in a line is a national hobby. The English will form a line whether they have the chance. Long queues can be seen, for example, at stations when the train is almost empty and everybody can have a seat.

9 . _______ Thai people are used to eating rice as a meal. Also, most Thai people do not sit down to eat a proper meal because they usually eat when they are hungry, especially kids and teenagers.

_______ Fashion (时尚) is full of culture. The Tang Costume (唐装) stands for Chinese history and fashion culture. The Tang Costume got its name because China became known to other countries during the Han and Tang Dynasties.

_______ In Australia, people celebrate the New Year from January 1st to January 6th. It is a public holiday and many people love to spend this day with their family and friends.

_______ There are two kinds of schools in England. One is the state school where parents do not pay money. And ninety percent of children go there. The other is the private school where parents pay some money for their children to go.

_______ Whether they’re good manners or not depends on where you are. Some East Africans spit (吐口水) four times as a kind of blessing (祝福). In parts of Polynesia, it is bad to be seen eating. They politely turn their backs to each other when they are eating food.
