The only thing better than reading a good book is reading it with others. In a book club, a group of people choose a book that everyone will read individually and then discuss together. There are no rules to starting a book club, and the plan might well change, depending on the groups. It's good to think ahead about how you'd like the book club to run. Think of 8 to 12 others (people around your age) who you'd like to be part of your book club. Perhaps encourage your friends to invite people whom they know well but you haven't met. A book club can help you make friends. Having a topic can make the club feel more focused. Finally make sure you read the book before the meeting, and come prepared with questions to ask and things to talk about. | Want to dive into stories with friends and share your thoughts? ●________ A schedule is a good way to make sure everyone gets a chance to choose the book. Alternatively, you could provide a selection of books and ask everyone to vote for what they want to read next. ●What do we talk about? Some questions are especially good for sparking discussion about a book. Try these: if you could give the book a different ending, what would it be? What do you think the main character looked like? What do you think will happen next? ●Where do we meet now? To help ensure social distancing, It's best to meet up online. With an adult's help, you can set up a video call between book club members. You can then take part from your cosy reading corner and enjoy yourself. |

6 . Really learn English!
A Special Bonus-English Short stories for Beginners
Ideal for complete beginners or children learning English:
●54 pages long
●Fully illustrated (有插图的)
●Simple and easy
There are many English short stories for English learners, but not many of them are suitable for complete beginners or children.
Complete beginners are those learners who have just learned the alphabet, learned the basic simplified sounds of the letters and hardly have any vocabulary.
As mentioned above, it can be a real challenge to find stories and activities that are suitable for students. Most stories at this stage are either too complex or simply not interesting. This is especially true if they are beginners. Most stories have at least some of the following flaws:
●too advanced, or too complicated (难懂的) for beginners
●hard to understand
●not really interesting
●contain idioms and other advanced vocabulary structures
●too long
These things are likely to reduce the student's motivation and make lessons less effective.

7 . Bullying(欺凌)can happen to anyone. It happens to millions of children around the world. Every year, a great many children around the world are bullied, but there are things that can be done to help.
What is bullying?
Bullying is when someone makes you feel bad or hurts you again and again. Bullying can happen at school, out of school or online. Bullying includes:
calling people mean(恶意的)names.
laughing at people.
telling lies about people.
taking someone’s things without permission(允许)
not letting someone play in a group
hitting people
What is cyber-bullying?
Cyberbullying happens online and includes:
sending bad messages online
sharing photos online without permission
not letting someone be in an online group
spreading lies online What can you do?
If someone is not kind of you, tell an adult who you know and like. For example, talk to parent or a teacher.
If you get bad messages, don’t reply. You should save them and give them to your teacher, your family or the police. Ask an adult for help. Don’t share something before you make sure it is true. That will stop the cyberbullying.
Talk to your parents or teacher or an adult if you are worried about a friend.
Say sorry if you are not kind to someone. You can write a message or talk to the person. And always remember: think about how to be kind in the future.

Deborah Sampson was born in Massachusetts, US in 1760. She was the fifth oldest of the seven children in her family. The family was so poor that the mother sent the kids off to live with friends and relatives. At the age of 5, Deborah was taken in by an old woman and was then sent to work as a servant in another home one year later.
At the age of 10, she helped with the housework and worked on a farm for about eight years, growing to be about 173 cm tall, almost 30 cm taller than the average woman of her day. Hard physical work helped her develop a strong body.
She dreamed of going on some adventures. When the American Revolutionary War broke out in 1775, women were not allowed to serve in the army. But Deborah dressed herself to look like a man and joined the army in 1782. She called herself Robert Shurtliff.
One day, during an attack, Deborah was shot (射中) in the back and leg. Another soldier took her to the hospital. A doctor treated the wound on her back and asked if she had any other wounds. Deborah lied and said no. She was afraid that if the doctor examined her leg, he would find out her secret. The bullet was deep in her leg. Using a pocket knife, Deborah took it out. She left the hospital and continued to fight.
After the war ended, Deborah got married and had children. But she still longed for adventure. So she put on her soldier’s uniform and traveled around the country telling of her life as Robert Shurtliff, the young and brave soldier.
