文章大意:本文通过Johnny和爸爸二人的争论,引出了生气时候和人沟通的几个建议。
1 . 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容判断句子的正误。正确的填A,错误的填B。

Keith had a bad day. He was tired and stressed-out after work. When he came home, Johnny, a 15-year-old student, was checking his dad’s old jacket. “You’re 45, dad. You’re never going to wear this again. Can I have it?” Johnny hit his dad’s pain (痛处).

Keith raised his voice and said, “What? You mean I’m too old to wear the jacket again?”

“Just kidding, dad. But why were you shouting at me?” Johnny felt hurt, too. Both of them were a little upset.

Did you have a similar situation like the father and his son? If you did, here is some advice for you to remember when you’re getting angry.

Think from both sides. Your feelings are important and so are others’. Don’t always think yourself “right” or “clever” and the other person “wrong” or “stupid”.

Explain yourself in a proper way. You can speak out your ideas by starting with “I” but not “You”.

Remember to think carefully before replying to others. If you feel angry, it’s a good idea to stop for a while.

Don’t guess others’ meaning. Try to find out what he or she really feels, and tell him or her if you are wrong.

In a word, don’t forget that it’s never too late to follow these useful ways of communication.

1. Johnny wants to have his dad’s jacket because his father doesn’t want to have it.
2. Both the father and the son have some problems communicating with each other.
3. We need to put others’ feelings before ours because others’ feelings are more important.
4. When you are in anger, you’d better control your feelings and think for some time.
5. The passage mainly wants to advise us to communicate after an argument.

Instead, the angels were given a small and cold room. As they were making the bed in the dark room, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, “Things aren’t always what they seem like.”

They left the next morning and they came to a house of a very poor family at night. The farmer and his wife were very kind. After sharing a little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest. When the sun came up the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife were crying. This was because their only cow that the poor family lived on was dead in the field.

The younger angel was angry and asked the older angel, “The rich family had everything, yet you helped him to mend his wall,” he continued, “the poor family had little but were friendly to share everything, and you let the cow die.” “Things aren’t always what they seem like.” the older angel replied, “When we stayed in the rich man’s room, I noticed there was lots of gold in that hole of the wall. But the owner didn’t know the secret. Since the owner was not kind and didn’t share his things with others, I mended the wall so that he wouldn’t get the gold for ever. 7 . Cheating can happen in a lot of different ways. When people cheat, it’s not fair to other people, like the kids who studied for the test or who were the true winners of a game.

Many people like the action of cheating. It makes difficult things seem easy, like getting all the right answers on the test. But it doesn’t solve the problem of not knowing the material and it won’t help on the next test—unless the person cheats again.

Some people lose respect for cheaters and think less of them. The cheaters themselves may feel bad because they know they are not really getting that good grade. And, if they get caught cheating, they will be in difficulty at school, and maybe at home, too.

Some kids cheat because they are busy or lazy and they want to get good grades without spending the time studying. Other kids might feel like they can’t pass the test without cheating. Even when there seems to be a “good reason” for cheating, cheating isn’t a good idea.

If you were sick or upset about something the night before and couldn’t study, it would be better to talk with the teacher about this. And if you don’t have enough time to study for a test because of swim practice, you need to talk with your parents about how to deal with swimming and school.

A kid who thinks cheating is the only way to pass a test needs to talk with the teacher and his or her parents so that they can solve the problem together. Talking about these problems and working them out will help kids feel better than cheating.

根据短文内容,判断句子正(T)、误(F)。

2. Cheating can solve the problem of not knowing the material.
3. If they get caught cheating, they’ll be in trouble at school.

Once there was a boy, and he loved sweets very much. He always asked his father for sweets. The boy’s father thought hard about how to stop the child from asking so many sweets. An old man lived nearby. The boy’s father decided to take the boy to visit him. He might be able to make the child give up sweets.

So they went to the old man. The father asked the old man to help him. But the old man liked sweets himself. He told the father bring his son back after a month. During the month the old man tried to give up eating sweets. At last he did it. When the boy and his father returned after a month, the old man had a talk with the boy. From then on the boy did not ask for sweets anymore. The boy’s father surprised. He asked the old man, “Why didn’t you ask my son to give up sweets when we came to you a month ago?” The old man answered, “How could I ask a boy to give up sweets when I love them myself? My friends say that I’m good at English, because I always get good marks in English tests. They think I’m a talented girl and I’m clever at English.

But in fact, I’m not a talented girl. I’m just a common girl. I’d like to say something about my experience of learning English.

I didn’t do well in English in the beginning. I started my English course at the age of 10. Maybe you can’t imagine I couldn’t say a whole sentence at that time. I was sad, but I wasn’t afraid of it. I just learned English hard. I spent almost all of my free time practicing English by listening to the tape and repeating after it. Soon I found I had made great progress in my English. At last, I could understand what the teacher said in class. Then slowly, I could get good marks at times. I knew that studying isn’t easy, so I spent much time reading more, listening more, writing more and talking more every day.

I have some other advice as well.

Don’t be nervous and try to be relaxed when you write articles or talk to foreign teachers or your own English teacher. Remember: Don’t pay too much attention to details when you are talking. If you have some mistakes, that’s all right. Think and talk in English and never give up. It’s never too late to practice English.

文章大意:本文主要讨论了为什么骑自行车在荷兰变得流行。

10 . To most people in the Netherlands (荷兰), bicycle riding is part of everyday life. It’s their first choice to school and work. In cities like Amsterdam, people take almost 70% of all the trips by bike. Why does cycling become popular in the Netherlands?

In the 1970s, the Dutch government (荷兰政府) began to improve its cycling facilities (设施) because many people wanted a much safer cycling condition for children. To make cycling safer, the Dutch built the widest cycling network in the world. The country marked over 40,000 kilometer lines just for bicycles. They have traffic signs and signal lights for cyclists.

Even when both bikes and cars have to share the same road of little space, you can always see a large board saying “Bike Street. Cars are guests”. It means that riders have priority (优先) over drivers. For example, cars must slow down and let bikes pass first if they run face to face.

Bicycle parking facilities are quite common in the country. The central train station in Groningen, a city in the north eastern part Netherlands, has underground space for parking 10,000 bikes.

正确“T”,错误“F”

2. The Dutch built the widest cycling network in the world.
3. In the Netherlands, if a car and a bike run face to face, the bike must let the car pass first.
