The camel is one of the strangest and oldest animals living today. Scientists believe that millions of years ago, ancestors of camels lived in North America. There was a bridge of land over the Bering Strait that led to Asia. One group of the animals moved to Asia. These animals developed into camels of today. Another group went to South America.
