Typhoon was coming near the school, and as expected, we went into our emergency (紧急的) typhoon plans. I wasn’t even in the classroom when it happened. As the alarm started ringing, I immediately ran as fast as I could back to the classroom.
I never imagined needing to put our typhoon drills (演习)to use. When I got to the classroom, to my surprise, my students were lining up on the wall, crouching down, with their knees and heads touching the ground, hands on the backs of their heads.
The students’ hearts were beating so fast as they were facing such strong wind, and mine, if we are honest. They couldn’t catch their breath, or the fear filled eyes looking up at me as they ask if their parents, grandparents, and friends were going to be okay. The other teachers along with me tried our best to keep them safe, comfort our students and promise them everything would be all right, though we truly didn’t know what the result would be.
Never did I imagine the terrible silence that would come over the whole school. Today in a very dangerous situation, my students behaved calmly. Never in my life have I seen my students follow directions so quickly. Tomorrow will bring new set of challenges (挑战), and will be a day used to encourage, train, and prepare the students for the next time this might happen.

The school convenience store is a place where many students enjoy a snack and a chat. However, it may become a thing of the past.
China’s educational and health authorities have banned(禁止) convenience stores in all kindergartens, primary, middle and high schools across the country. The rule has taken effect since April 1. It requires that administrators (管理人员) should keep record of each meal and solve any food problems as soon as possible. Parents can also eat with students at school canteens and give suggestions to the school on food safety, it said.
The rule raised heated debates. Many students were sad about the ban. “Without convenience stores, our school life will be less interesting,” a student named Fang, from a senior high school in Hangzhou, told Qianjiang Evening News. “We won't be able to have different flavored drinks or desserts.” However, many parents expressed support for the rule. The father of a junior school student in Beijing, told the Global Times that “cheap, low-quality snacks sold at these stores are harmful to children's health.” “Students now rush to shops to buy snacks as soon as a class is over, which affects the normal teaching order,” he said.
The move comes among food health concerns at public schools and is designed to meet the nutritional needs of students, The Beijing News reported. The rule also requires schools to monitor students who may be obese(肥胖的), and to make sure they follow a healthy diet.
And in fact many foreign countries have their own ways to make students eat healthily. For example, many parents in Australia volunteer in schools, sometimes in canteens, according to China National Radio. These parents, at least, do their best to see that their children are served nutritious food. In Japan, there is “food and nutrition education”. Primary and middle school students eat lunch in their classrooms, where they learn about diet and nutrition, and Japan's food culture, reported City Lab, an internet magazine hosted by The Atlantic. They also take turns serving meals to each other, cleaning up, and recycling.

8 . In China, safety education is becoming more and more important now. The last Monday in March is for students to learn it at school. It helps students learn more about what they should do to keep themselves safe. What are the accidents at school? Take a look.
Stampedes(踩踏), earthquakes and fires are the main accidents at school.
A stampede always happens in crowded places. When students around you begin to push, just stand there and try to hold onto something. If you fall down in the crowd, move to one side and protect your head with your hands around.
When earthquakes happen, you can get under a desk quickly and hold on. It’ll protect you from falling things. If you are outdoors, find a place away from buildings, trees, and power lines.
When there’s a fire, leave the classroom quickly. It’s better to put something wet over your mouth and nose. In this way, you won’t breathe in smoke. Many people die in a fire, not because of the fire but smoke. It makes them cough and they can’t breathe. That’s very dangerous! So when you want to get out, you should make yourself close to the floor. Then you can breathe some fresh air.
