4 . Hi! My name is Rachel. I’m a boy of 14 years old and I’m in the 8th grade. I live on a dairy farm（奶牛场） in Michigan with my dad, mom, grandma and my 12-year-old brother, Andy. I want to tell you what life is like living on a dairy farm!
On our dairy farm, we milk about 55 cows twice a day — at 5 o’clock in the morning and 5 o’clock in the afternoon. In addition to (除……之外) the milking herd, we have several calves, some bulls, and dry cows(不产乳的母牛). Calves are babies, bulls are the males, and dry cows are the adult females who are pregnant (怀孕), and close to having their calves. So we don’t milk the dry cows. Counting(点……的数目) the milking herd, calves, bulls and dry cows, we have about 130 cattle (牛) on our farm.
