Although research on the nature of mathematical beauty is under way in several fields--such as philosophy, psychology and education--there are still many _____ questions. What do we mean by beauty? Is it objective or subjective? Can equations be beautiful in their own right, or must they be connected to some sort of visual or sensory _____?

Once you realise that mathematics is, in addition to its scientific values, an essentially aesthetic subject, you realise that teaching it to students without conveying its beauty might be to _____ the essence, the very life, of the subject.

3 . Italy’s one-euro-home sales have been attracting a lot of interest over the past few years. Some towns like Mussomeli in Sicily and Zungoli in Campania have managed to _________ abandoned properties to foreigners pursuing the Italian dream.
